Creative Announces Pebble Pro 2.0 USB Speakers

Creative Technology today launched Creative Pebble Pro, the popular Pebble speaker series' latest and best addition, which boasts a compelling mix of size-defying audio quality, minimalist elegance in form, and a subtle yet distinctive personable touch of RGB lighting to adorn any desktop setup. This new 2.0 USB speaker system sees various improvements across its features set, headlined by its audio performance. With revamped full-range drivers, and featuring digital amplifiers with built-in audio processing, which replace analog ones used in previous models the Pebble Pro belies its diminutive form factor with more headroom for louder, clearer audio across the volume range, as well as up to 3.5 times more bass than the previous model Pebble V3.



Two of Creative's proprietary audio technologies apply further audio shine:

• BassFlex - delivers an extended low frequency response and deeper bass across all volume levels, without the need for a subwoofer
• Clear Dialog - enhances vocals such that they sound more natural and are easily comprehensible; this is especially helpful when watching movies on the PC

I really dislike manufacturers slapping "pro" on things that aren't suited for professional use at all, I mean you aren't going to sufficiently edit audio with a pair of USB speakers.

The pro is obviously meant for Professional Gamers. Gamers that earn money could use that sponsorship money while showing some compact speakers with them RGBs.

I'm glad this exists because this means we are slowly heading in the right direction. More and more stuff needs to be powered by USB PD, so that we can be released from the shackles of the standard 5V USB that has powered everything for far too long. I would like to see motherboards with multiple PD capable USB C one day with decent power on each, at least 30w, go up to 100w or more, and then we would only need one cable to each device we connect ultimately reducing clutter. You can only go so far to hide so many cables. A single USB C to a proper monitor, size and all (not them low brightness portable crap) for both power and display? A single USB C to speakers for both digital audio and power to power the dac and speaker? Sign me up. We are finally crossing that start line.

Yes I know we need even more humongous PSUs to deal with it, bring it on I say.

They don't even include the USB-PD adapter you'd need to (fully) power these. IMO, without it they're just $20 speakers like the Pebble V1, V2 & V3, but now 3-4x the price.

I'm curious about how these actually sound. You can't get around physics and this thing is tiny but DSP tricks can be pretty impressive when it comes to tiny speakers when done right. At that price though you are spending a lot to get one cable convince and something that looks sleek and minimal on your desk.

At 90$ this is firmly in the silly territory. I can imagine someone buying them strictly for the looks, maybe. Normal 30$ pebbles are like "whatever, they look cool and are better than monitor speakers" but for a hundred you can already get a real half-decent 2.0 system.

I bought my daughter a set of the previous ones and they were junk to put it lightly. Maybe the PRO moniker will make them work correctly.

I have a pair of the older versions (can't remember which one) that I use on my desktop. Had 'em for about 2 years maybe? They aren't great, but then again I'm no audiophile. My monitor doesn't have built in speakers (thank god) and these do the job just fine.

That's S$, as in Singapore Dollars, so around US$66. Still way too much for what they are though.

You can get Logitech Z313 2.1 for half the price and they surely have more power and richer bass because of the presence of a subwoofer.

Wow. That's a dick thing to say. And yeah, just because so many people don't know what GOOD sound is like, doesn't mean they sound "good." Compared to monitor speakers maybe??? LOL.

I looked up these speakers without the RGB and reviews say they have no bass at all, so maybe they're better than monitor speakers, or some laptops, but these speakers are way overpriced IMO.
