So does it mean that the NGX SDK - which is labeled "early access" since 4 years (!) - will be released?

NGX Architecture

  • NGX software: The RTX feature is integrated into any game, application or plugin through the use of the NGX SDK. This is the main code for the AI-accelerated functionality, but it also requires a trained neural network in order to function. NGX has been designed to be thin - a header file that points to a DLL in the NVIDIA driver, making it simple to augment any application with these RTX features. The NGX SDK provides access to a number of RTX technologies and features for games and digital content creation and editing applications. The capabilities of NGX are tightly coupled to the NVIDIA driver and hardware and make use of Tensor Cores found in RTX-capable GPUs.

  • NGX features: The trained deep neural networks (DNNs) are included in the driver download. These neural networks are updatable as they get more accurate and powerful allowing the performance and capabilities of these features to evolve over time.

It's kinda weird code optimizing code/itself basically.
From my understanding

it will not code itself the driver core. That will probably remain done by hands. But each games have their own shaders that need to be compiled to run on the GPU. AMD and Nvidia both have compiler to run those on their own architecture. Sometime, they actually write those manually instead of compiling it to ensure maximum performance on that specific architecture to utilize it to the maximum.

I think this will be the part the machine will take over. Doing specific shader compilation/optimization for each games. An AI can try some code, run the game, benchmark it, then try something else, etc.
You get a farm of those and you can tests way more games and do way more testing/benchmarking than without.

With time, the AI will learn what are the thing that improve performance and it will get better overtime. With many iteration, it should discover new way of doing things that human haven't seen yet.

AMD should do something similar if they don't do already. Same for Intel.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
could, could, could.

Im sure there is performance to be had in using AI algorithms to find optimization in the drivers handling of games, but considering the number of factors I doubt the performance will be that much better.

This sounds like a great sales pitch for a new product.

They have to optimise for redundantly repetitive code. The driver is nearly 2GB already. My fear is they could enable frame generation all the time in all the games by default.
this reply is nonsense.

the "Driver" isn't even the majority of the size.

A profitable company with happy employee's isn't going to sack a good CEO, regardless of your opinion on the price of electronic luxury goods.
That's the thing about AI-generated solutions: sometimes they are completely counterintuitive for us, humans.

Yes ,
not interrested in what nvidia COULD do , only in what they are actually doing.

I could buy a new PC this year , but I think no one really cares.

Interesting development. Let's see if AI (automated idiot) comes up with something good.

In certain situations AI will always outperform human minds. Check chaos control for one.
No doubt. It is much faster, and getting wider too in its scope, so yeah it can see combinations that went overlooked by us.
