AMD has released its latest Adrenalin drivers for Radeon graphics cards. With support dating back to RX 400, the latest Adrenalin 23.3.1 WHQL drivers bring a lot of improvements to the table, as well as support for Halo Infinite Ray Tracing Update and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty game. Most importantly, the new driver has a series of fixes, including intermittent driver timeout, system freeze, or BSOD, with the latest Radeon RX 7000 series. Problems in games such as Premium Gold Packs in EA SPORTS FIFA 23 and Dying Light 2 lighting effects corruption have been fixed. As far as Radeon RX 6000 series goes, this driver release manages to fix corruption in certain scenes with ray tracing enabled observed in the Returnal game. Check the list below for the entire set of changes.

Download: AMD Radeon Graphics Drivers 23.3.1 WHQL here.

Highlights
Support for:
  • Halo Infinite Ray Tracing Update
  • Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Fixed Issues
  • Metrics overlay may intermittently re-size to 50% after gameplay.
  • Application crash may be observed while opening Premium Gold Packs in EA SPORTS FIFA 23.
  • Intermittent driver timeout may be observed in Halo Infinite in certain scenes with ray tracing enabled.
  • Corruption may be observed in Dying Light 2 around certain light sources.
  • Corruption may be observed in Returnal in certain scenes with ray tracing enabled on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs.
  • Intermittent driver timeout, system freeze or BSOD may be observed using select displays on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.

Known Issues
  • High idle power has situationally been observed when using select high-resolution and high refresh rate displays on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.
  • Video stuttering or performance drop may be observed during gameplay plus video playback with some extended display configurations on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.
  • Some virtual reality games or apps may experience lower-than-expected performance on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.
  • Brief display corruption may occur when switching between video and game windows on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
  • Connection failure or black screen may be observed using Parsec client with AMD decoder setting.
  • Application crash may be observed while playing UNCHARTED : Legacy of Thieves Collection on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
  • The Performance Metrics Overlay may intermittently resize across the display on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6600M. As a temporary solution, users encountering this are recommended to disable the Performance Metrics Overlay.
  • The Performance Metrics Overlay may have some missing units when enabled, or situationally become truncated after changing display scaling settings.

Important Notes
  • Factory Reset has been temporarily disabled as precautionary measure while we address isolated installation issues that have been reported during PC upgrades.

I have seen this a couple times in the time i've been using my 7900XTX.
I AM using freesync on a native GSYNC display though, so that could have something to do with it.

Will definitely give these a go.

I have to admit I'm a bit hesitant to update AMD drivers lately.

you should be fine the issue that was introduced with 23.2.1 that was causing boot issue they have identified.

They also disabled Factory Reset in the newest driver which was causing the problem.

If you are still uncertain just create a restore point before doing the driver install.

Yea I learned my lesson the hard way last time. Started creating restore point explicitly first then updating drivers. For some reason last time updating Intel drivers knocked out my OS booting.

Hogwarts Legacy does not open for me anymore. Start screen doesn't render properly, and is stuck at like half a frame per eon, with the entire game stuttering in the process. Cannot do ANYTHING. Pain.

Tried other games and they seem to work fine. Weird.
EDIT: Yeah, only HW Legacy. Also it seems to use all of the CPU for some reason when it happens.

Driver also seems to expose "intake temperature" now, too.

EDIT 2: Oh, I let it sit down for a good while and it's good now. Man, was it recompiling shaders?
EDIT 3: Game seems to be less stuttery. Go figure.

Yep. The initial shader compilation for this game takes really long and it may look like it's about to crash while doing it. It may actually crash as well lol

First time I see it just take over the game start screen lmao, I expected to see the "compiling shaders" screen, so I thought it was broken. It's fine now, though.

it bothers me so much they are mentioning some of the bugs as only rx 7000 being affected trying to gaslight everything implying its cause they are new when rx 6000 is also affected cause their drivers are dogshit

Sometimes a program will have it's window close but the process is still open. Check the Details tab in the Task Manager, sort by name and/or look for the icon. If you find it, kill the process and try launching it again. :)

It ended up being shader compilation but didn't show the shader compilation screen, cursed.

I had two issues before the previous driver update: Vivaldi + YouTube + fullscreen, fixed. Forspoken came with my Sapphire RX 6800 along with two other games and it would always crash, now it's crashed only once. Remember, Intel was giving billions to corps like Dell a quarter just to make sure they wouldn't get sales. But they're clearly busting their butts to get things done and I've seen the progress. It's not perfect but at least we don't have to sign in to freaking GPU controls for Nvidia users.

It ended up being shader compilation but didn't show the shader compilation screen, cursed.
Oh, I think they had an article here or another tech site about shaders. I think in Borderlands 3 when the game loads whats-his-name the robot, he dances while they compile the shaders...every time the game launches, but I never got stutters in BL3.

Please keep installing drivers while Windows is in the middle of a system update. Sure it shouldn't be possible but if people were doing this then hard to feel sorry for them.

Using DDU and disconnecting internet before reboot has alwasy worked a charm and I have had ZERO issues with any Adrenalin update

I think the issue was more a pending reboot on windows updates. When the 23.2.1 driver was launched it was on a patch tuesday and I remember coming home to seeing the system tray wanting a system reboot which I did then I installed the driver after its reboot ran into the boot issue.

I have the option for windows update to install drivers disabled so that isn't an issue.
