Avalanche Software has released the latest March 8 patch for Hogwarts Legacy, that fixes various bugs and improves gameplay, performance, and stability. The extensive update also includes fixes for online, gameplay, audio, UI, cinematics, ray tracing, save game, display and miscellaneous issues.

The changelog includes major reworks, from patching out memory leaks, improved VRAM usage, to VFX crashes, lighting optimizations with NVIDIA drivers, improved stability and performance with ray tracing, directional light shadows and shadows on trees with ray tracing, various Ansel issues, and plenty of gameplay issues, including missions, broom flight, world events, and characters. The new patch also updates the minimum Nvidia and AMD graphics driver recommendations, which could be directly connected to the improved VRAM usage, as the game was easily going over 14 GB with RT enabled on 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p resolutions.

I do have performance issues and bugs but overall the game is genuinely enjoyable, I'm pleased with my purchase, I'll test the new patch this weekend, hopefully the weird slow downs I had here and there will be diminished
The artistic direction is refreshing too, it's not every day we see a AAA HP game

Still needs plenty of optimizations, especially on the CPU side.

Will check how it evolves in 6 months or so.

WOW, nice to see but dammit DLC's for this game already, now i know i be waiting this one out.

Number one reason I didn't even consider buying this, I'll wait for a complete edition later on

The only DLC is the Dark Arts Pack in the deluxe edition. Purchasable separately if you don't get the deluxe edition.

Yeah not in to buying games that have any DLC's near lunch, only message it sends me is that there be a bunch more after it and tbh if that close they should of came with the game anyways.

Yeah buy now ( $10 ) or later for $20, no thanks.

biggest issues I've seen personally all appear to be CPU related, has the ceiling lifted a bit with this patch?

lol... "improved DRM" is basically what that first line is saying.

too little too late, and performance is improved without DRM, yet they continue to be greedy bastards instead of just improving performance and removing it.

hard pass. don't let the door hit you on the way out Denuvo, I got other things to play.

biggest issues I've seen personally all appear to be CPU related, has the ceiling lifted a bit with this patch?

just the opposite, DRM has already been shown to cause issues in performance

And isn't CPU usage the primary hit taken with intrusive DRM? I understand what you're getting at, it's the issue and poor performance is the symptom.

Denuvo is quite literally a scam, they pay hundreds of thousands for something that makes the game perform worse and simply doesn't work. They should just use whatever is standard for the store where they're publishing and put the savings towards improving the game

This shit isn't working either for them or for us

I just did a quick test and it doesn't seems to have improved much. 7950X3D + 4080 at 4k, i used to be relatively good with everything on with DLSS quality + FG on but now when I travel, I have a lot of pop-in and still have huge stutter from time to time.

But it look like they fixed the strange lighting on NPC during conversation. (At least where i was).

There has never been a comparison of this game with or without denuvo. If you're thinking about the cracked performance comparison a while back that was debunked to be issues with the Steam Overlay, suggestion was to disable steam overlay.

Game is tempting now that I've seen it for sale for $46 USD. But I really want to wait for all the bugs to be worked out and maybe DLC included and DRM removed. My friend really enjoyed the game. I already bought Octopath 2 and Jedi Survivor so I'm good until summer.

That's a list of fixes and I'm guessing these are not all of them. I only hope the most annoying bugs and issues are sorted out.
Been waiting to get my hands on the game but maybe I will still wait a bit. Not in a rush to be honest. From what I've seen so far (YT gameplay) it looks and plays well on my gear. I just don't want to get those bugs and issues since these ruin the game and I'm trying to avoid that. (CP2077 winks)

Euh... a mainstream game gets patched and this is news? That's... a very low bar for the news headlines. Damn TPU. Its not even a content patch either, its just bugfixing that should've happened (prior to) day zero. It nearly reads as an ad 'look, we finally did our job, somewhat', pls buy nao.

Tbh... its ultra generic open world theme park fare. But that's also not a bad thing, it is what it is. I just honestly don't understand the hype, a lot of stuff really isn't impressive, combat is... yeah. Combat. Depth of a puddle of water. Graphics are quite generic too. I guess the HPotter flavor must be very strong in ppl to consider this game anything special.

It is utterly mind blowing how a game of this caliber has the issues and performance it has in 2023. Put it next to Elden Ring... its hilarious in terms of performance vs graphics.

I seen the combat and it was well you have a combat and that was it. I think people like the Harry Potter franchise and it does boost some people view of the game being awesome. It might be from what I have seen it is OK. That's why no rush of getting it for myself. I had better expectations with CP2077 to be fair than with this one. I'm not a crazy Harry Potter fan to be fair. Never was. I think the game is worth enough to give it a go and try it out. If it turns out to be great for me we will see. Like I said. No rush in purchasing it.
