DFI, the global leader in embedded motherboards and industrial computers, has stepped into the electric vehicle (EV) market in recent years. Alongside VicOne, the automotive cybersecurity expert and the subsidiary of Trend Micro, they will demonstrate technologies related to vehicle software security application that enable more comprehensive network security protection for smart cities.

This year, to demonstrate the AI computing and vehicle-to-everything technology used in Connected Vehicles and Smart Poles, DFI has built an actual smart traffic intersection at the venue with road side units (RSU), digital signage, intelligent edge computers, onboard units (OBU), in-vehicle AI computers, and driver HMIs.

DFI and VicOne will showcase a real C-V2X example of when a hacker uses vulnerabilities of smart devices to hack into and affect a vehicle or the safety of people and vehicles. After the built-in IDPS (xCarbon) of the OBU receives an abnormal message, it immediately communicates with the HMI and reports to the back end VSOC (xNexus) in order to take corresponding preventive actions. VicOne's vehicle network security solution utilizes remote control of abnormal data signals and real-time warnings to help car manufacturers, fleet operators, and system suppliers establish a more powerful vision of information security defense, and prevent/defend against hacker invasions.

DFI President Alexander Su expressed that with the rise of new technologies related to EVs, the development of the Internet of Vehicles has also rapidly attracted attention and has been integrated into smart cities. Various mobile vehicles, traffic signals, and transportation infrastructure will share a large amount of data through the internet before perform backend AI computing to improve transportation efficiency and pedestrian safety. In view of this situation, DFI is actively deploying smart transportation and providing C-V2X Internet of Vehicles solutions. They look forward to solving transportation efficiency, pedestrian safety, and smart transportation information security issues while bringing flexible and advanced embedded solutions to smart cities.

VicOne Vice President of Strategic Partnership Edward Tsai said that information security is an indispensable part of smart city transportation development. Incorporating information security into transportation tools, fleet management, and Smart Poles at the design stage will effectively assist public transportation or self-driving vehicles respond to new types of hacker attacks.

With the wave of new infrastructure construction brought about by global industrial automation and digital transformation, DFI will collaborate with its partners to continue developing and integrating miniature edge computing products. Together they will provide advanced embedded solutions for various fields and applications, becoming the best partners for enterprise OT intelligence and laying the foundation for the future.
