We're incredibly excited to announce that the Apex Legends team at Respawn will continue to strengthen its development team with the introduction of a brand new studio location in Madison, Wisconsin led by industry veteran Ryan Burnett. Ryan is an extraordinary leader with a proven track record in live service games and as a pillar in the massive mid-western game development community in Madison. With nearly two decades of development experience at places like Raven Software and Epic Games, Ryan has a history of inspiring the sort of creativity and innovation in his teams that is the foundation of games like Apex Legends.

It's been our belief since day one that Respawn is not a singular location but a mindset: when passionate and talented people have creative freedom, they'll achieve the unexpected. This view helped us successfully expand to Vancouver in 2019, and as the workplace evolved, it helped us continue to work with the best that the games industry has to offer, whether at the office, remote, or hybrid.

We see that Respawn mindset reflected in Madison, which has cemented itself as one of the great game development cities not just in the United States but the entire world. That's why we've worked closely with and appreciate the assistance of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to help facilitate the studio's growth in Madison.

At its core, this expansion represents Respawn's commitment to work with the most skilled, curious, and creative minds in the industry. Having just passed its 4th anniversary, our aim is to continue to make Apex Legends the premiere Battle Royale on the market. I cannot think of a better addition than the immensely talented developers in Madison working alongside our Los Angeles and Vancouver teams to help us shape what comes next.

See you in the Outlands,

Daniel Suarez

I just want another Titanfall single player campaign, I know it doesn't generate as much money for them, but I'd buy it day one. I'm just not a fan of multiplayer stuff the older I get.
I don't get people paying for the cosmetics in games. I did admittedly buy one battle pass way back when it came out, as it was a free game after all.
That said, if you're somewhat active and play the game, you can collect enough premium currency every season to get a free battle pass for the following season, plus some extra.

It could, the multiplayer was super fun, and nothing stops them from doing the same they do with Apex: sell skins, multiple modes, add a battle royal mode for good measure since that's more popular now.

Apex legends is based on the Titanfall lore, they have insane ammounts of room to expand into.

A battle pass now and then (even if you pay more than once) is not too bad, helps support a game you like after all. But the price of a single skin is around the same or more than the entire battle pass from what I remember, how people end up putting hundreds into games like this for meaningless digital skins that won't mean or have any value once they shutdown the game is completely nuts.

Unfortunately, it seems that Apex Legends has definitly become nothing more than a milking tool, with a focus on generating revenue rather than providing an enjoyable gaming experience. The detachment from headquarters with the appointment of a new leader with "a proven track record in live service games" further reinforces this shift away from what should be the purpose of the original game.

Yeah, the same applies to a lot of other games. I really don't get it.

You played it since the latest big patch? They made a lot of changes to the game that changed how it plays as well. What bugs me is the issue with all the cheaters that still doesn't get addressed.

In the end, the battle pass is just a way to keep people engaged with the game, to give them something to do. A few seasons ago(2 years ago actually) they made the progression in the BP much slower, but they had to backtrack because of the players' response. They're not giving anything away, they need active players so that the game doesn't die and they can continue to milk who is willing to spend money.

I know about the changes, but I won't go back to AL. It's a poorly developed and maintained game that still carries audio bugs, a pitiful netcode, clients, servers, and matchmaking that leaves a lot to be desired even after years. It's a shame because it has good gameplay, but the extremely EOMM oriented matchmaking ultimately forced me to abandon the game.
I dislike games that feel like a chore, and I am not fond of being coerced into playing matches that are rigged to keep me engaged.
