LG Announces Availability of New 49-inch Curved Ultragear Monitor

LG Electronics USA announced today pricing and availability of its new 49-inch Curved UltraGear monitor (49GR85DC-B). Priced at $1299, the latest in the UltraGear lineup is now available for preorder thru April 2, 2023 exclusively at LG.com and will include a special preorder offer of a free UltraGear Gaming Pad ($199.99 ARV). Pre-orders are expected to ship in early April.

Bringing gameplay to the next level, LG's 49-inch UltraGear monitor features an up to 240 Hz Dual QHD (5120x1440) curved (1000R) display with an ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio. The 49GR85DC-B model also supports VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and delivers an ultra-fast 1 ms (GtG) response rate. Paired with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, serious gamers are equipped with a fluid, virtually tear-free HDR gaming experience. Advanced gaming features also include Dynamic Action Sync, Black Stabilizer, FPS Counter, and Crosshair.




For those who desire the ability to play, watch, stream or work from multiple input sources at the same time, the new monitor offers OnScreen Control which supports both Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) allowing consumers the ability to configure their monitor to suit their needs. Consumers can also choose from a variety of enhanced gaming GUI including Gamer, FPS or RPS to optimize display settings.

Designed with gamers in mind, the 49-inch UltraGear monitor provides a three-sided, virtually borderless display design and LED Hexagon backlighting. Also built-in is a DTS Headphone:X jack which provides accurate spatial localization in games for 3D audio over headphones.

B) wtf is up with that silly USB-A input port.... hello LG, this is 1992 calling and we demand ALL our antique, outdated ports back, like, yesterday

A type C to be able to do upstream usb along with video. What use will that KVM have when you only have a single upstream connection!? Can that even be called a KVM? Marketing sure thinks so, I disagree They don't seem to call it that in the press release fortunately, because it's not

Samsung Display sold the LCD side of their business to CSOT, a Chinese panel manufacturer owned by TCL. This monitor is most likely using the same type of VA panel made by CSOT that Samsung uses. I'm assuming it's this: https://www.panelook.com/SG4903M02-3_CSOT_49.0_CELL_overview_55288.html

It's a new panel that mostly matches this monitor's specs and began mass production in Q3 last year. So, it's probably pretty decent? Especially if it ends up with better QA from LG.

edit: the luminance and color coverage information are gonna be inaccurate because it comes without a backlight. that site also says it's flat though, so maybe it's a different panel, but panelook isn't always 100% accurate.

I'm with you here !
Even if I think it will be 2 years warranty in Europe (at least in France, it's the law).

Becoming older, i'm bored to put $$ on things who could fail in 4-5 years of normal using.

I'm an old school dreamer, i want things that endure time and build to last !

During my life time I have never had a monitor or TV fail within 2 years of purchase. Maybe I am just lucky and I am sure people have had all kinds of issues, but that is my experience. Now that I think about it, I have only had 2 TV's or monitors ever die and they died of old age.
