NVIDIA Executive Says Cryptocurrencies Add Nothing Useful to Society

I think Michael Kagan was speaking rather candidly though I can't figure out which angle he was going for with it. He's clearly been part of the problem knowingly, but the question is he just simply trying to garner sympathy as he markets and pushes Nvidia's new direction towards AI or is there sincerity behind his words. I can't tell if it's his words or chatGPT to be quite honest the jury is out.

The future is more inclined, from a human perspective, to a non AI world. Maybe we'll have superhumans with metastasized brained, kinda like Dune o_O

Nice, hopefully this is nail in the coffin for Crypto. If NVIDIA is saying it's a bad thing now then it's starting to actually show that people were wrong about it being the best concept for a "new world bank". NVIDIA didn't make crypto and now I'm glad they're talking about it's potential downside. If it didn't wind up affecting things like car prices, and the economy of the whole world during the pandemic, then I'm sure this would of worked out a little better. Now it's becoming similar to things like gamestop stock. Hardware should drop in price if crypto dies off so I'm all for it.

Nice.

Crypto isn't dieing, Eth went proof of stake.

So Nvidia can't make money via it's back door anymore, so it's now dead to them.

Until another coin makes it worth mining again.

You still paying in hard cash or via numbers, PayPal apple or Google pay.

I know the answer, governments are working on their crypto so your elation is that of the deluded.

Yeah, crypto is in it's low now, but it's still higher than most highs in the past. And it has not gone away.

And it's certainly higher than shares of Sillicon Valley or Credit Suisse banks, as crypto enthusiasts like to point out.

This low and Ethereum switch to proof of stake are some promoting as an opportunity - minable coin that will replace Ethereum could jump by a much larger amount that is normal, and the hype is already building. So without an active effort to eliminate mining on their cards by Nvidia these are all just empty words.

The hypocrisy here hits 120fps without the need for DLSS. After they drained the crypto cow, now they are saying that the AI cow is more importand. And it is because it is way fatter than the crypto cow and still full of milk.

Get ready to see prices going even higher because AI performance is about to get into the price equation.

The gamers that MADE your company should wise up and f#@£ you off, as the money grabbing hores Nvidia are.
No, no no. Gamers should continue to buy Nvidia stuff, because for everything Nvidia does, AMD is to blame.

Also AMD stuff is slow, buggy, power hungry, incompatible and has a tendency to explode.

That is a giant opportunity for AMD to gain marketshare ... but they seem not interested.
Why should they? I keep asking the same thing the last months. Why care? They did lowered the prices for their RX 6000 series and people still buy Nvidia stuff, no matter the price. Seeing that they will totally, completely, lose a price war with Nvidia, because people will prefer Nvidia any way, did what logic dictates. Put prices that don't threaten Nvidia to ignite a price war and limit their product line to high end. If AMD was trying to increase market share, they would have been selling mid range 7000 series cards already.

We usually expect companies to react to negative public behavior towards them in a way that suits us consumers, like lower their prices even at levels where their products are barely profitable. We don't expect companies to just lose interest and let us enjoy the monopolistic dictatorship of one powerful brand. Well, here we are at today.

AMD do free alternatives just fine.

Government "crypto" would be significantly different than what crypto currently is. There would be no mining. It would be distributed like current fiat money is, as an inflationary currency and would be distributed certain limited quantities because currencies that increase in value are useless as a currency.

Of course, crypto and NFT's, etc. are mostly useless if you know how government systems such as currency, car titles, land deeds, etc. work.

Your entire statement is useless if you know how crypto works.
And I'm not sure you do, also fiat goes up and down in value, look at the rubble then rethink your next reply because my short answers are due to phone not knowledge.

Nonsense. To buy AMD GPU, you just need to care a bit less about those features and use reasoning.
7900XTX is 50% faster than 6900XT in 4K, for the SAME PRICE of $999.
4080 is also 50% faster than 3080 in 4K, but 4080 is 71% more expensive at MSRP $1,200

7900XTX is less expensive, it it faster than 4080 in 4K, gives 8GB of VRAM more (24GB) and new DP 2.1 video ports at 54 Gbps.
It's no brainer. If you enjoy being milked, you buy 4080.
I don't enjoy being milked by Nvidia and I bought 7900XTX.
Fantastic card for those who want to enjoy 4K gaming, especially on 4K/120Hz OLED TVs.

And the 4080 IS faster than the 7900xtx with DLSS 3. I know, the 7900 xtx is more powerful in native performance but isn't it more important to get better DLSS performance in the hardest to run games instead of things like native performance in titles that don't need it like say Elden Ring?

I've owned AMD parts before and I have loved them but this gen in particular doesn't have frame generation. Frame generation is SO POWERFUL, making games nearly double FPS. Am I the only one who's seen this in person? No one is talking about frame generation this gen.

I've owned AMD parts before and I have loved them but this gen in particular doesn't have frame generation. Frame generation is SO POWERFUL, making games nearly double FPS. Am I the only one who's seen this in person? No one is talking about frame generation this gen.
I can't take you seriously, so I will throw you on ignore your still piping on about dlss 3 performance on AMD your either trolling, really poorly informed or a #########

Because it may be a fact that Nvidia does Raytacing better on the upto 30 games I might use it on a bit better not dramatically, but is worse at running the other 556 games I own.

And AMD fsr2.1 IMHO makes any dlss point moot , simple as, and I use both GPU vendors with no blinkers on every day.

How's about you re read the OP and stop waffling defensive balls about your precious, don't reply I won't be listening, your on ignore.

Your entire statement is useless if you know how crypto works.
And I'm not sure you do, also fiat goes up and down in value, look at the rubble then rethink your next reply because my short answers are due to phone not knowledge.

Gov coins wil be no different yet people like you Will sign up still, go figure.
I'm not sure what you're getting at? Crypto is just a unique string of values. It does not need to be mined, proof of stake shows that.

As for Fiat: Fiat all around the world is an inflationary currency. You won't find a country with fiat currency that doesn't work on keeping their currency inflationary(lowers in value over time). Again, this makes sense if you know how economies work because if currency is deflationary(increases in value), the incentive to spend it is lowered as you're already making money by just simply holding onto it. This would in turn cause the economy to stall because less people are spending it, etc. Just look at every single country on this list as an example.

Dude! I'm not trolling you. I'm discussing why I think nvidia has a slight advantage this gen compared to last gen especially. Idk why you think I'm just trolling you. Frame generation will come to AMD next gen and then I'll be like yes definitely buy a AMD card just because that's what I prefer. I played portal RTX with DLSS 3 on and it completely made me able to jump from 1440p up to 4k. I just really like it is all. I still love the 7xxx series and it's a lot of power now for the money so it's very convincing. Something I would love to see is frame generation on PS5 pro or Switch 2.

Hi,
When the $ was a gold standard it was simple now mostly gov tax base and natural gov controlled resources oil/...

Crypo has no mineral value so I have no idea why it's lasted this long guessing mostly get rich quick greed is why most politicians come in broke and leave wealthy lol

So even if a gov renamed it's currency "crypo" it's at least backed by the same substance.
