MSI has been rumored to have at least eight different models of the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, and two of them, the RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio and RTX 4070 Ventus 3X, have now leaked online, ahead of the launch scheduled for next week. What makes it interesting is that this will be the first RTX 40 series graphics card that will be able to come without the 16-pin 12VHPWR connector.

MSI's Gaming X Trio, as the more premium edition, will be a 2.5-slot design with triple-fan cooler, have more RGB effects, and will feature the 16-pin 12VHPWR connector. The MSI RTX 4070 Ventus 3X as a more budget-oriented SKU, will have a triple-fan cooling system but only takes two slots, and it needs a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. While both are factory-overclocked models, it is obvious that the MSI RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio will have a higher overclocking potential.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is still rumored to launch on April 13th, aiming at MSRP of $599. The MSI RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio will most likely be a more expensive version, with only the Suprim edition being more expensive. The Ventus 3X and Ventus 2X series is expected to be closer to the MSRP.

I really want one, to upgrade from a 3060 Ti for playing TW Warhammer 3 at >60 fps in 1440p maxed out.. But the price will be the decisive factor. We will find out next week. If it has a price close to a 4070Ti then i will save up some more and get a 7900XT.

The Gaming X Trio would be a nice upgrade over my 2070 Super Gaming X Trio but...
I'm not in a hurry buying a new GPU, for now I can still play my games with the fps I like, @1440p.
I might just wait for the Nvidia 5000 series...
Also would be a nice bonus if I can keep my current 750W Gold Seasonic Focus + PSU with a GPU upgrade.

If you need it, buy a 3060(ti) and be done with it...
You're probably right, but since i have to upgrade my whole PC, i might get a 4070 aiming a longer lifespan. I usually play indie games but also like ARPGs and MMO's.
(My current is 4770k +16gb 1600Mhz + GTX 970, i've been thinking bout getting a R7 7700, 32GB 5200 + 4070 since i play on a 3440x1440@144 monitor)

The sad thing is, this will be great value at $600.

3080 performance, decent amount of VRAM and a very low TDP. With an undervolt and a capped framerate, it will draw 100-150 W in most games.

This will probably be the most attractive 40-series card. The 4060s are DOA with 8 GB of VRAM. Many clueless people will unfortunately get suckered into buying those cards, which will become obsolete very quickly.

Yall reckon they're gonna release a 16gb version down the line? 8gb just ain't gonna cut it for much longer especially for a GPU in this tier.

That's kool, but if you're getting a whole new system & GPU, I'd aim for a 4070 Ti or 7900 XT, not just for the performance but for the VRAM. 8GB should be for low to mid range cards only.

12GB GDDR6X if you look at the pictures..
There's my derpy moment, thanks.

You know that we are in a recession and inflation is the new norm ? No way anything PC releated will get cheaper in the next few years. And if it doese it will be because we are in an ever deeper shiet and sales dropped towards zero.

All the more reason to get the cheapest model, aside from avoiding the RBG that's on every other model.

Again, nVidia is kneecapping performance and 'longevity' of the card by installing just 12GB of VRAM, with games chewing up up to 12GB VRAM at max setting at 1440P, makes me wonder if nVidia is pulling the same stun like it did with the RTX 3060 Ti/3070/3070 Ti, powerful cards that deserve to have more VRAM installed. Put it this way, had the RTX 3070 Ti be equipped with twice the VRAM, as in 16GB, it'd still be able to handle many newer games with RT enabled at max setting. And owners won't feel a need to upgrade which is what nVidia do not like or want.

Yeah, I never really cared about GPU longevity, because I basically upgraded every two years, so VRAM was not an issue for me. And I would already have the 4080 if it cost $700-800.

But this gigantic increase in pricing puts things in a different perspective. Buying a new card with 8 GB is now pointless, and 12 GB is just on the limit. 16 GB should be enough until the end of this console generation, possibly two more years, at least when it comes to texture quality.
