About your meme, so All games running unity or Unreal engine are just mods? The 1 engine per game era is far gone.

imagine a company that spent billions not wanting to give their stuff away to the competition, insane right?!? of course this was going to happen, MS doesn't want to own game studios, he wants to sell more xboxs, gamepasses, and keep windows relevant

Sony can provide evidence to regulators that Microsoft's intent in purchasing a common supplier of 3rd party software is to foreclose Playstation, because it's exactly what Microsoft already did with Bethesda.

That's illegal, per the regulators' own laws (at least the big 3).

So when is xbox getting ff7 remake??
Oh wait... we're not going to. Wonder why?

Sony doesn't own squaresoft, MS is free to do a similar agreement. Apples and oranges.

If it's true that Sony doesn't need to own a studio to get exclusive, what is the problem of Microsoft buying a studio to get Exclusive?

Sony isn't seizing on anything because they don't have a foot to stand on! The bait-click headline should have been Sony cries and reaches for straws because they're shady trash!! Xbox never offered a contract for any Bethsada games and they can have all those companies stop making games for Sony unless they have a contract which Sony did not for Redfall. So it doesn't matter what Sony thinks or wants! Trash company 100%

Doesn't make them wrong, just hypocritical

Compare market share and you'll see they don't mean all that much, the big difference is really quality and buzz around each game. Sony has been able to produce great exclusive games to promote the platform year after year, Microsoft has consistently failed at it and now decided it was just easier to buy most major publishers instead of competing on their merits.

They say Sony can produce an exclusive to compete with CoD, cool story, but can't they do it to? It would seem they can't...

For me these kind of acquisitions come down to what will you be able to do acquiring the company that you can't do without it? Oh it's just about cornering the market? Ok then, denied!

Proof you're ignorant!! Sony literally bought those developers. It's an easy Google and you can see when Sony bought them. Sick of this ignorant mindset. Acting like Sony built these developers from the ground up. Nope bought them just like Xbox is buying developers. I also like how Sony ponies such as yourself never bring up SOE and how Sony shut down and sold it off. Sony and its fans are trash, you prove it daily!

If sony wasnt paying developers to keep their games of other platforms I would maybe sympathise with them.

FF7 remake as an example we had to wait a year for it to hit PC, and I expect its never going to hit Xbox. Likely the same with FF15.

Sony complaining about exclusivity and yet they are the ones that incorporate it for the most part, looking at games like God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Spiderman, Final Fantasy Remake, Bloodborne....the list goes on and on and no I'm not an Xbox fanatic defending this, I'm a pure gamer that enjoys content from multiple systems, I own everything from a OG Xbox, Super Nintendo, N64, Xbox 360, Nintendo GameCube, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS5 but don't give me the "exclusivity blame game" drama when you're notorious for it yourself, also like to add that Sony pays game developers to ensure that a certain amount of time has to expire before cross platform games can even be played on Xbox and that also includes Game Pass, Sony aren't getting as bad a deal as they make out

Cool personal attack, go compare the size of Guerrilla Games, or Santa Monica Studio, or Naughty Dog, or any of the aqcuisitions Sony made to the size of Activision Blizzard. You can add them all up and they will still be a not that big percentage compared to just Activision Blizzard (not counting everything else Microsoft also owns).

Once Microsoft owns it all and starts doing what monopolies do maybe people like you that simply have an axe to grind with Sony for whatever reason will notice what happened. We've seen this movie over and over again and we just refuse to learn anything from it.

Legitimate users: can you count how many astroturfing (Microsoft employees pretending to not be affiliated with Microsoft to make it appear that there is more support for anti-capitalist monopolies from "real" people) comments?

Microsoft should not be allowed to buy it's way to further monopolizing markets. Why hasn't it been splintered in to a thousand pieces?

They don't have an axe to grind with Sony.

They just really believe Microsoft is going to just keep giving away GamePass practically for free after putting there the full portfolio of these publishers' games and spending almost $80B on their acquisition.

Because Microsoft's shareholders are in the business of doing charity to the gamers who play Doom, Call of Duty and Elder Scrolls.
