Daedalic Entertainment has published the official PC system requirements for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and these are quite high, especially considering that the game has been delayed several times and that it will be available for Nintendo Switch. Even though game has opened up pre-orders on Steam earlier today, many users are wary that the game might be another unoptimized PC port, specifically due to its high RAM and graphics card requirements.

Developed by Daedalic Entertainment and co-published by Daedalic Entertainment and NACON, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on May 25, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and at a later date on Nintendo Switch. As far as PC system requirements are concerned, you'll need at least an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and either an GTX 1080 or RTX 2060 graphics card, and this will get you 1080p resolution at medium preset and no ray tracing. For recommended requirements that will run the game at 1440p with ray tracing and DLSS Quality, you'll need an Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 2600 CPU, a hefty 32 GB of RAM, and an RTX 3080 graphics card. The game will have both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 support, and need 45 GB of storage space.

Here are the full PC system requirements:

Minimum:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10/11
  • Processor: Intel i7-4770 AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GTX 1080/RTX 2060
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 45 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: at Medium preset and 1080p, Ray Tracing off
Recommended:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10/11
  • Processor: Intel i3-6100 AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • Graphics: RTX 3080 (with DLSS Quality)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 45 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: at High preset and 1440p, Ray Tracing on

Minimum requirement of a GTX 1080 or an RTX 2060?
What kind of visual fidelity can they show that will justify it?

RTX3080 for 1440p + DLSS Quality with high details?
That basically means 10-12 GB VRAM for 1080p on high

I hope the ''Medium'' preset texture isn't from PS3 era, trend from recent game is rather troubling.

So I assume I'll have to sell my 6800XT and buy an nvidia card to play it ?

These platform exclusive games are really starting to draw some firm lines in the sand.

Seems like the bog standard requirements for a PS5/Series X port to PC. They're not particularly high.

I like how the i7 4770 is minimum spec, but the i3 6100 is recommended spec. /s

The i3 6100 is a horrible little thing, and I hated having to use any of our company's workstations that were tainted with it. I can't imagine trying modern gaming with it.

What do you mean?

I'm actually happy to see a game where you're not the hero trying to save the world. I'm getting a bit sick of all the fake positivity and lack of depth that surrounds the entertainment industry these days, and if they manage to make a good game out of this one, it'll be a refreshing spin for me. The idea is good, so fingers crossed. :)

The system requirements are a bit steep, though. Judging by the fact that the recommended spec is a 3080 with a Core i3, I'm expecting a poorly optimised, low-threaded mess. We'll see.

The game in general looks bland and likes it's going to be a train wreck you have to pay 100 usd just to get the edition with Elvish voice acting as it is lol

I think they are listing a 3080 due to they are basing it off of using RT. Minus RT I'm guessing your system will run it just fine now if you only had 8GB of vram maybe not so much although you game at 1080p from what I remember so people should be in the clear at the resolution regardless.

Fair enough. For now, I've only seen this one trailer in the article, so I'll reserve my judgement for the final game.

As for my system and the requirements, I'm not afraid. My expectations are pretty low with 1080p and 40-60 FPS. I could play anything on a potato if I wanted to.

I wonder why some canot see they artificially pumped the 1440P requirements since they are for RTX ON which is an nVIdia-made and controlled feature. The 1440P requirements for RTX off will be much lower (3060/6600XT maybe or 3060Ti/6700XT for fluid 60FPS). A good sign is the low CPU requirments which allow for good GPU scaling.

Switches are 720p native though and only 'up to 1080p' when docked

Minimum requirement an i7 4770 cpu and a gtx 1080 gpu, ready for bottleneck
That only means that the game is sensitive for GPU, but not so much for CPU horsepower.
