Two of NVIDIA's providers of Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) services are of the opinion that Team Green is happy to stay the course with its Ada Lovelace GPU production schedule. The backend providers Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) and King Yuan Electronics (KYEC) have not been given any new instructions with regard to shifts (up or down) in component assembly output. It is theorized that NVIDIA is aiming to clear any stock backlogs of graphics card models featuring previous generation architecture - namely the second gen GeForce RTX 30-series, built on Ampere.

The retail demand for the newly released GeForce RTX 4070 cards has been mild, to say the least - with plenty of inventory remaining on the shelves in the States. Critical reception of the midweight GeForce RTX GPU has also been middling - many have advised that budget conscience buyers should potentially look elsewhere. The market for discrete graphics card is in a fairly healthy state at the moment, with major production issues and fractured supply chains becoming lesser concerns for electronics manufacturers. NVIDIA has the advantage of being a market leader, and seems to be quite content with proceedings - but their analysts are very likely keeping an eye on the RTX 4070 sales figures. Its products are out and readily available - no need to change direction too sharply.

They probably have enough orders from China, DoD, Musk, MS, AWS etc. Don't need those plebs' money as much anymore!

If you go higher up on the price/demand curve, it’s not needful to sell as many.

Most of those entities require consumers' interests, taxes, etc.

More layoffs = a lot less tax collecting and more government spending (unemployment, etc.) on its citizens and a freeze on their regular expenditures.

Musk, etc. has already reported the upcoming recession that will last for a while = definitely less CapEx spending.

That does not affect government spending which goes up in a recession to pull us out of it. Given that Amazon, MS, Tesla, SpaceX all pull tons of government funds, especially Elon's stuff which depends on it, things will be fine.

What's left out though is a lot of these companies usage cases do not work with consumer GPUs. They need the professional, or enterprise/server based products.

Of course they are, that way there will be nothing else left to buy EXCEPT their overpriced 40xx series cards....or AMD cardz.....or heaven forbid, that other company's gpu-wannabe cardz, geez what a plan :D

I feel bad for anyone buying a 3000 series card at MSRP over 2 years after launch. They simply are not worth anywhere near that anymore.

To be fair, AMD has a knack for tripping over every opportunity Nvidia gives them. The biggest seller of Nvidia cards might be AMD given they are following Nvidia's pricing lockstep. The only side I can take in this situation is that of the consumer's and all I see is gloom.

I don't know about you man, but I don't think these qualify as cheap toys any longer... An RTX 4090 costs as much as an used entry-level car in most of the world. Or I could pay practically half of a brand new popular vehicle here.

Long gone are the days that I paid $125 USD on a mint condition R9 Fury X, even in the richer nations, I doubt most people have $2000 to throw around like it's nothing.

More folks just need to have more spending discipline and learn to be patient. I'm happy to wait as long as it takes to see any card I'm looking to upgrade to go down in price to something I consider reasonable.

After cashing in on the mining boom the duopoly can afford to relax. I sometimes wonder if there's any deliberate collusion among nvidia/AMD to fix GPU prices.

Well when we are talking about 600usd 4070, I could afford 600usd GPU out of pocket money when I was a teenager LOL

Nvidia is cashing on AI to boost demand for their GPUs. But I feel that demand is going to die down at some point when the AI race matures. Now Nvidia is in the driver seat, so they can price and supply whatever they want.

Good on you, man. I hope you realize that's not the case for most of the world. Some of us are quite well off, I include myself in that. I have a high end credit card, no debt of any kind, don't need to sell myself to the capitalist devil from sunrise to sunset working for someone to survive well, I am lucky.

But it's not because we're well off that other people are. By aggregating value on something that's effectively worthless, all you're doing is ensuring that people cannot enjoy it. People don't need GPUs to survive, man.

Like you've said before, to us it's a toy, to some people it's a tool to earn a living, but in all cases, it's not an asset, it's something which has a predefined useful life and will become obsolete in a relatively short time span, so it cannot be priced out of reach. To do so is to elitize and seal a sad, lonely fate for our hobby.

$600 is a very high end GPU's price, this... isn't it, even if I see it's very commendable positives.

I don't know about you but my relatives got useful hand-me-down PCs that practically last forever from me, and that turned them into PC gamers .

You sound pretty ellitist when you imply that GPU are only useful when they are not obsolete LOL, practically all GPU are useful when they are still working, there are all sort of games and settings for every GPU, even gtx1030 owners can play games too you know.

GPUs are like toys, if you can afford it and have fun with it, why not, don't get too political with it. Have you ever seen people protesting against LEGO? that stuff is expensive AF

That's very much beside the point, and if you stop to think about it, the 1030 was about the last budget GPU they've made.

The 10 series are now 6 years old.

Nah bro $600 is teenager pocket change. If you can't afford $600 for midrange PC GPU then you need to reevaluate yourself. $600 is the new mainstream/midrange guess your poorer than a teenager. You going to be in the store browsing the GPUs looking at the open box discounts trying to decide which best fits your budget but you have to get something older because the value just isn't there on the current stuff while some teenager pulls over $650 from his pocket for a mainstream 4070 when you paid about half that for your 970 in your late teens. So you think to yourself "are GPUs really worth being twice as expensive as before or are teenagers just half as smart as they used to be?"
