government already manipulates everything, so if anything you should be hoping AI moves as fast as it possibly can, it might be the only chance for human survival. maybe sci-fi got it wrong. maybe humans have a tendency towards destruction and eventually will have nuclear war (Ukraine/Russia stuff is bringing us closer and closer to that), maybe we need super advanced AI to save the species.

Thankfully I live in the Midwest where we have plenty of farming and livestock so if it happens it won't hit us first. Due to my current medical issues I don't expect making it another 10 years anyway.

I think me and you have different definitions of AI. If an AI was truly AI like ChatGPT7 ends up being super advanced, it won't be able to be controlled, it will be smarter than everyone combined (even downloading itself without permission to everyone's PC/Phone). So good luck government.

I think instead of calling your version of AI, you should instead call it machine learning and algorithm advancement.
