NVIDIA to Target $450 Price-point with GeForce RTX 4060 Ti

How do they kill their own market? People buy RTX 4000 cards and Nvidia is making very high profit margins. People also keep buying RTX 3000 cards, while those cards are 2+ years old and sell above MSRP. People who don't buy either RTX 3000 or RTX 4000, don't buy AMD or Intel cards either. Meaning they are being patient, meaning they will eventually pay Nvidia latter for a 4000 series card or a 5000 card.
Do you not understand economy of scale, or do you pretend to not understand? IT IS NOT ABOUT PROFIT MARGINS - they are big, we got it - too big, if any of us are asked, but it is not same if 10 000 people are having latest gen graphics, or 500 000 thousand people.

Profits for the company are the same, even sweeter if the first number is correct - but only the second one makes sure that the market is expanding and surviving. If there are 10 000 potential customers for the latest-and-greatest graphics card, there is no market for AAA game producers to invest in that market anymore - they will switch to consoles and mobile games (already happening big time). Gaming on PC will become niche, even more expensive and only for a fraction of people. And it will die out - that happened time and time again with different stuff, gaming is no different at all.
Nvidia does have a future. Expect full ARM based Nvidia systems in the future running for example Steam. Why do you think Nvidia wanted to buy ARM? In 10 years we might be seeing Nvidia branded systems, the way we see Apple doing, for gaming and/or productivity. AMD does have an advantage with consoles today, but this is not granted. Microsoft is losing every fight with Playstation and they could go Nvidia some time in the future, especially if Nvidia keeps increasing it's performance advantage, just to gain an advantage over Sony.
They do, very bright indeed. Just not in graphic card market for Desktop PC. Just not in "GeForce". That is a relic. I did not say that nVidia is going to fall down, I just said they are moving to greener pastures (very successfully).

This is hypocrisy and what Jensen is doing looks completely stupid. I think they made so much money from the miners that they have absolutely lost their minds.:kookoo:
It's as if they don't live in this world or at least in some alternative reality.
Sorry guys, but at this point those who buy these cards for that much and support NgreedIA are the biggest idiots!!!!

Slowly even their worst card costs twice as much as it is worth. I wish they would drown in the amount of money that the many miners and scalpers are collected for them!

If anyone thinks Jenson pulls the prices out of a hat they are wrong. He is famous for deciding prices at the last minute but trust me those decisions are based on a metric fuck tonne of data.
We the customer have shown that cards sell at insane prices and now he wants to maintain those margins even at the cost of throughput because he knows sooner or later we all need to upgrade and he now knows that AMD will position itself according to his pricing so no concerns with AMD.
Neither will he let the market collapse he will alter pricing as required making as much profit as possible every step of the way and will continue to be able to do this as long as he dominates the market.

Was hoping for a lower MSRP but this is the same price as the 3060 ti on Newegg currently so I'm not surprised.

Welll, he might dominate gpu but he doesn't get to decide any of that, the market decides not him, wake up people.

This has nothing to do with miners or Nvidia losing their minds.

They went the way of RT, that is the explanation for current prices. RT needs a lot of hardware to be somewhat workable. Lots of hardware means big dies. Big dies are expensive. The problem is we got hit by Covid and supply issues, exceptional demand for silicone, all at once. And that send everything into chaos.

We, as customers, have out share of blame in this: we bought video cards at the new prices, showing AMD and Nvidia those prices are acceptable.

Welll, he might dominate gpu but he doesn't get to decide any of that, the market decides not him, wake up people.
In a duopoly/oligopoly, the market has little influence. We can opt not to buy, that's the only thing we can do. And we didn't do that.

At least the 3060Ti had 8GB VRAM over a 256bit bus. I'm really curious how 4060Ti performs with only half that width.

8GB is fine for entry level, but not for midrange. Ampere already struggles with it, on recent titles, and it has more bandwidth relative to core power.
I mean sure for your use case, 8GB will be more than fine until the end times.

no its not.

I do not? They control 90% of the market. They sell 9 times more GPUs than AMD or Intel and at higher profit margins, meaning that they have more room to maneuver. They can become the most loved company in the world in just one day. They can do a price drop of 20%-30% across the board and they are in an instance everyone's most favorite company. But obviously they don't need to do it yet, or any time soon. And no, YOU don't understand economy. If Nvidia gives performance at good prices this period, they will sell poorly in two years when they come out with their RTX 5000 series. So, they give serious performance increase in the high end, but at increased prices, some performance increase in the mid range, again at higher prices, with mid range meaning $600 to $1000 today, and they will only offer Fake Generation to those trying to remain under $500.

As long as there are new and exciting games in the PC market, as long as graphics for PCs are clearly superior to console graphics, as long as people can easily pirate PC games, there will always be a market for GPUs, even $1600 GPUs.

And if PC gaming dies, Nvidia will come out with Android gaming consoles. Full Nvidia hardware for everyone to enjoy. You really thing they don't have options? until 5 years ago I was expecting Nvidia to get squished by Intel and AMD, because both Intel and AMD can also offer CPUs to OEMs, meaning much better prices in APUs or combinations of CPUs and GPUs. I was clearly wrong. Nvidia is a company looking far ahead and you can be sure that even with PC gaming dead, they will still keep making a huge profit from gaming GPUs. They'll find a way or more.

And that's from an AMD fun, not an Nvidia shill.

Last of Us on a 3070 getting 45 fps in 1440p? That's some crazy stuff. I've seen games get above 60 fps with RTX on in 1440p on that thing but the VRAM is unfortunately low now.

Crazy to think people were just buying 12GB 3080 ti's for $1800 just a year ago and now they're outshined by $800 GPU's (That are still over priced)

my $540 6800 Xt oc'd matches a 4070 ti in several games. and rock solid stable. best buy I made in a long time... still tempted to go hardcore and get 7900 XTX... but so far I have resisted. lol

I just want to ask people, since when are we paying premium for "features"? If that is the case then every single GPU today should start at $500 and go up to $10.000, otherwise we'll still have to use xvid video format, DVI port output, able to only scale up to 1080p resolution, have 6bit colors and we would still need to install drivers manually, as in put all the files in their appropriate places ourselves. Because all of the advances since then, all of the new stuff is premium "features" that we need to be paying hundreds of dollars for!

WTF? Since when are so called "features" a premium that we need to pay? Should we still use GDDR3 memory? You want to use GDDR6, well you pay $200 premium for that "feature"!

You like to use Radeon 'Chill', well you need to pay a $50 premium on it, you want to use DP2.1, well for that advanced "feature" you need to pay $100.

So called" features" which are just addons and advancements have always come in within the pricing of the card, they were never paid for as a premium, they were never something we talked about! We expect Nvidia and AMD to adopt DP 2, we expect them to adopt HDMI 1.4b, we expect them to implement AV1, we expect the GPU's to support 10bit HDR, we don't consider those as "Features" that we pay a premium on!

Well their last release was oct 2022. If they can get on a yearly cadence they can catch up. If they can't, they never will.
Intel's original schedule called for Alchemist in 2022H1, Battlemage in 2023, and Celestial in 2024. But now the news, which I guess is a rumor, calls for Battlemage in 2024H2 and Celestial in 2026H2.

You repeat like broken track... "Most loved company"

Emotions toward entities like companies are really new level...

Jokes aside, I already told that there is future for nVidia, so I do not know why you repeatedly raging about it and talking about some "Android console" or whatever you are blabbing about...

As for PC gaming, no, this is not unlimited market, as not many people can afford 1600 $ GPU, and amount of people that can is shrinking - I do not know in which world you live in, in my world energy and food costs gone up 50%. Yes, it wont last forever, but for sure will make less people ready to fork out 1000 $ for GPU only. And number of sold GPUs clearly shows that, the simple metric you refuse to accept - instead you raging about nVidia being the biggest and baddest.

OK, nVidia is da best, we can finish for now. Enjoy!

I think Jensen is still in that mindset, where he thinks he can scam people out of their money because in 2020 and 2021 we were all forced to sit home and never leave our homes, while getting government assistance to be able to live without working, which BTW caused most of the current inflation that we have going on. No one was producing stuff, yet people were spending money they weren't earning.

But because everyone was at home and couldn't do anything else, everyone and their dog bough a GPU, plus you add in the crazed crypto mining and GPU's were flying off the shelves like hot cupcakes. But we are way past that, everyone is back at work, we've regained most of our freedoms and are able to leave our homes, and we have a crippling inflation on top of that preventing us from spending big money on stuff we don't absolutely need.

So I think Nvidia is in for a big awakening, especially at the so called "mid tier" of GPU's because I don't know anyone who would pay over $400 in that price range and that is if the GPU's offer solid value, if not then $300 and to top it off most people actually buy in the $150 to $250 range, that is why Nvidia was actually saved by their crappy 3050. Yeah it was a garbage product, but it was the only cheap available product.

But most people bought the 3050 or still have a 1060 6gb or 1660ti etc... so they won't be buying a 4060ti at $450. This card with all of its specs and performance estimates should be $350 at most!

What's the problem with shrinking the already existing 10nm products to 5nm and giving a discount. 4070 is a better, energy efficient cheaper 3080 12. Ok fine it's not the usual but you are getting finally something to play with. Same goes for 4060 Ti a kind of better than 3070 Ti. As for games not fitting in 8GB are you really expecting to run comfortably on ultra settings and 30 fps with that anyway. You understand there is no free lunch right. And Nvidia is sitting on so much money that he can't be bothered to care anymore. They can't give it more than 12 GB because next gen GDDR7 will deliver 71% more bandwidth. So we're stuck on 8, 12 GB for the foreseeable future.

Compare VRAM & bandwidth and you can see its not just a shrink with a discount. Its a shrink, a cut down and a price point. There is no discount. Even the 4070ti has 33% less bandwidth than a 3080!

Surely they wouldn't nerf this card on pure raster to push their proprietary software. Then overcharge for said software.

Compare VRAM & bandwidth and you can see its not just a shrink with a discount. Its a shrink, a cut down and a price point. There is no discount. Even the 4070ti has 33% less bandwidth than a 3080!
It may have 33% less bandwidth, but it's ~20% faster in gaming. Bandwidth is not a goal on its own.
