I've been saying for quite a while that NVidia has adopted an Apple-like sales model, overpricing everything and counting on the blind fans to defend and justify their actions.Apple does it with storage and ram, and it does work sadly...

$1000 for A4000, while losing the warranty and risking to kill the card while you can just spend $600 for 6950x and get not just 16gb ram, but also 30% extra performance. I hope you jokingWhy not just power shunt an RTX A4000???
That seams unnecessary...
The upgrade of 3060ti and 3070 with GDDR6X showed that this card dont need faster ram, the performance gain is miserable while the consumption rise drastically making this cards wors than the standard versions with GDDR6I always wondered what was possible if we where giving the option for faster ram. Both camps usually place what's available and call it a day. But over time chips, speeds and quantity do change and by replacing it you could be looking at 25% up to 40% of memory bandwidth boost.
Thanks, this video was so much more informative, talking about finding the strap resistors, which boards may be eligible, etc. The video in the OP was purely fluff advertising for their own repair shop.

planned obsolescence.
It was done since forever. People used to mod the OG Xbox to use 128MB RAM so it can run some arcade titles that used that much memory (one of the arcade boards used OG Xbox hardware with 128MB RAM) and have better emulator compatibility.

I thought it was the same guy.
Hasn't there been a serious drop in prices over the last year due to reduced consumption for all types of memory?, 2GB GDDR6 modules are like $8-15 each, $18-25 for GDDR6X

If Nvidia does not want to give you more VRAM officially, they could still help and fund one tech charity shop in each country where moders would be employed to solder more VRAM for you.

Not true. Check this outSurely totally depends on res and settings. You don't need more than 8GB if you're using 1080p.
Can probably just tweak settings at higher resolutions to stay within it. Easier than modding hardware.
