TPU YouTube: Corsair iCUE Elite H100i/H115i/H150i/H170i Overview

At TPU we're masters of written content, but there's no denying that YouTube is an interesting medium with new possibilities. That's why we're starting to explore making video content, thanks to David who's making an appearance in these videos. In recent weeks you might have noticed that we've begun releasing first videos on YouTube. Here's the official announcement. Our written content is not going away of course—it's our core business and what you love about TPU—no plans to change that in any way.

In this overview video we're going hands-on with Corsair's iCUE Elite series of AIO, closed-loop liquid cooling solutions, show what's in the box, how to set it up and check out the various models. We explore the different sizes available, from 240 mm all the way up to 420 mm. Feel free to comment with your feedback.

Honestly, the content appears more like an advert created by Corsair rather than an impartial product overview produced by TPU. For instance, iCUE is proprietary software required for all Corsair RGB products, but I feel that users should be steered away from proprietary solutions where possible and in this case I am convinced that OpenRGB coupled with Arctic ARGB fans would be a better solution for the consumer, both in terms of affordability and ease of use. Indeed, I would question whether any of the Corsair AIO’s represent a better or cheaper solution than similar products from Arctic or EK, but the video fails to mention any competitors. If the goal was to appease a manufacturer with a lot of clout and showcase their wares, I think the video succeeded in presenting what are undoubtedly excellent products in a very favourable light, but despite the laudable production value, personally, I would prefer a more critical approach focused on the end user.

You can still do ‘product overview’ videos, but unless you’ve already totally sold out, at least add some snark. Ice Cream Sandwich’s AD segments are an example of value added for even literally sold out — ADs.

If my understanding is correct, it’s actually a symbiotic relationship between a TPUer and a natural human; no harm to the human host, no breach of the treaty. It is indeed weird the TPUer chose an inferior communication medium though.
