Yesterday, at The PlayStation Showcase event, Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games unveiled a brand new gameplay trailer and announced that Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited and highly anticipated sequel to the studio's award-winning psychological thriller will launch on October 17. Alan Wake 2 will be available digitally for PC on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders for Alan Wake 2 are now available.

The trailer introduces Saga Anderson (played by Melanie Liburd), an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases, who arrives to investigate murders in the small town community of Bright Falls in the Pacific Northwest. Anderson's case spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true and questions how it may be connected to missing writer Alan Wake, whose own dark story eerily mirrors her own.

"Alan Wake 2 is an intense story and a layered mystery that takes players on two disturbing journeys, running in parallel and echoing each other in strange and unexpected ways," said Sam Lake, Creative Director and Lead Writer of Alan Wake 2. "A newcomer to Alan Wake's world, FBI Agent Saga Anderson's investigation offers players a unique lens into this survival horror experience."

Alan Wake 2 pushes players into a psychological horror story from the perspective of two playable characters. Saga Anderson risks her life to solve a deadly mystery of murders in the Pacific Northwest while Alan Wake attempts to rewrite his reality to escape the depths of the Dark Place, a nightmare version of New York City.

Taking full advantage of the power of current consoles and PC, and driven by Remedy Entertainment's proprietary Northlight engine, players will take on powerful supernatural enemies in desperate situations filled with intense suspense and unexpected twists. Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities, connected at heart in ways neither of them can understand.

The best-selling and critically acclaimed original Alan Wake received multiple Game of the Year awards and followed the titular protagonist on a desperate search for his missing wife. As he discovered pages of a horror story he had supposedly written, author Alan Wake was forced to question his sanity as, page by page, the story came true before his eyes. Remedy and Epic Games Publishing have released a modern remaster of the title, Alan Wake Remastered, for PC on the Epic Games Store and on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One consoles.

Looks interesting. Is it me or does the FBI partner look a bit like the OG Max Payne?

Yep, they both use Sam Lake's (Remedy's writer/director) face.
Btw didn't realize that the FBI agent is called Saga - clearly a nod to Swedish/Danish "The Bridge" series...

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I'm unenthusiastic about Alan Wake 2, simply because the "story" part of Control's DLC that was all Alan-Wake focused was tedious and boring, even though I've played Alan Wake (1).
Since those cutscenes were unskippable and unsatisfying interruptions to the otherwise decent gameplay of Control, I started to hate them and wonder if anyone at Remedy was still capable of writing interesting narrative. The Plot of Control is otherwise very simple and brief, and it suits the atmosphere of the game perfectly. Whoever shoehorned Alan Wake into it needs to get off their pedestal and look at what they did with an open mind, IMO.

Having played Alan Wake, Control, and two of the three Max Paynes, I think Alan Wake was the least enjoyable - I'd give it a solid 7/10 back in the day but they need to up their game with Alan Wake 2 or face inevitable criticism in today's market.

Glad to see Max Payne's voice/face is with us. They should have used him for Max Payne 3 too.
He has the best voice in video games industry, right after Duke Nukem's one.

After playing the end of Control I had to play the Alan Wake remaster and that story really stuck with me. Love the ray tracing in both those titles too. Pretty interested in this second title.
