Fractal Design is taking the subtle route with its new Terra compact PC case, its sole new product on display at Computex - the small form factor Mini-ITX 10.4-liter enclosure has been "designed and engineered to reshape the small form factor gaming experience." Its creators have decided upon an unusual combination of materials and hues - the front panel features a wooden section where the power button and front ports are located, including USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C (offering 20 Gbps transfer speeds and fast charging). The overall aesthetic is fitting for a comfortable home environment, where RGB-laden gaming PCs can sometimes look out of place.

The Terra is offered up in three shades: Silver, Jade and Graphite - with its mostly aluminium construction sand blasted and anodized to give an intriguing textured look, with CNC-milled detailing. The front is comprised of an 8 mm-thick aluminium panel and a sliver of FSC-certified solid walnut. The case's truly dinky form factor (measuring 343 x 153 x 218 mm) can accommodate powerful GPUs up to 322 mm in length, as well as SFX and SFX-L format PSU models. A pair of SSDs can be installed internally via dedicated 2.5" drive mounts - there is only space for one storage unit if the user configures their Terra with a longer (SFX-L) power supply.

The Terra's motherboard plate can be shifted around thus granting "your build's ideal balance with 30 mm of internal flexibility provided by a stepless, movable central wall." Builders can access the interior very easily via a slide-off top panel and the two wing-type sides (also removable). A PCIe 4.0 riser cable is included as standard with the Terra case, granting vertical GPU mounting out of the box. Fractal is set to launch this boutique-style SFF Mini-ITX case on May 31st, with an MSRP of $179.99.

One of the nicest SFF cases I have seen. I hate this case is not set up to handle water cooling. Fractal could have given this one the capacity to handle a thin 240 radiator on the top and bottom.

So they "invented" Dan A4? The good thing it would be cheaper and widely available.

Who cares? Virtually every atx case is some variation of an old Antec, why are you surprised that the majority of itx cases use a sandwich style layout?

The Fractal Terra combines the idea of the moveable spine from the FormD T1 with the general build quality of the Ghost S1 from Louqe. While the Terra seems to be nicely designed, my one gripe with it would be the lack of an option for top fans, which sets the T1 apart. Temps on the T1 should be much better than on the Terra because of that.

I agree with you. In today's world of hot components. This case fell a little short of not allowing at least fans a couple of standard fans on the top and bottom.
