Taiwan-based YUAN High-Tech Development company brought a series of consumer-grade (read: affordable) video capture devices, at Computex 2023. The SC750N1 is a PCI-Express 3.0 x8 internal AIC capture card that features an HDMI 2.1 input and output (loop), which provides you with the ability to record 8K video at 60 FPS, 4K at 144 FPS, and HDR10 VRR information. Too cutting-edge? There's also the SC720N1, which is a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 AIC with DisplayPort 1.4a input and output, letting you capture 8K at 30 FPS, and 4K at 120 FPS. Don't have PCIe slots to spare? There are even external versions of these cards. The UB700G is a wallet-sized device that passes through HDMI 2.1, connects to your PC over 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2, and can capture 8K @ 60 FPS, 4K @ 144 FPS that's encoded in MJPEG format on the device (to overcome the 10 Gbps interface bottleneck), or 4K 60 FPS RAW (uncompressed).

What in Dog's name... Ok, two things:

First, I'm a bit surprised by the choices of PCIe connectivity for the internal cards. PCIe 2.0 in 2023/2024? I can only imagine that makes the most sense in developing markets, but still. The 3.0 x 8 also has me scratching my head because, if memory serves, the other players bringing HDMI 2.6/4K will offer 3.0 x 4 PCIe cards (I might be mistaken). If so, a longer card is a tougher thing to swallow with today's -- and likely tomorrow's -- motherboards, which in a post-SLI world don't often provide more than x 4 length secondary slots. And when boards have additional x 16 slots they are often masked by current GPU coolers, for example.

As well, nobody gave these guys the memo. Gold-coloured bling hasn't been en vogue for a mom; it's been all about the white gold ;-)

Yuan makes the chipsets used in Elgato's products. Hopefully Elgato takes the SC750N1 and makes an affordable 4K60 Pro MK.3 or whatever they'll call the successor.
