Fans of CD Projekt Red's action role-playing Cyberpunk 2077 are looking forward to the release of extra content—the Polish gaming company has not set a firm launch date for its upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC campaign, but their own digital distribution platform - GOG.com - has aready spilled a few beans this week. Keen-eyed gamers noticed that a German language listing for the expansion had appeared (likely by mistake—it no longer exists) on GOG with a "BALD" tag—meaning that the DLC is due "soon." This information was captured in screenshots and quickly uploaded to the Cyberpunk subreddit.

Industry insiders are expecting CD Projekt Red to make a Phantom Liberty-related announcement at this year's (currently ongoing) Summer Game Fest, but media attention has already focused on the apparent pricing set for this piece of DLC. According to the screenshots Phantom Liberty will be available for a €29.99 pre-order price in Western Europe territories, which suggests a possible charge of around $30-35 for North American customers. Comparisons to The Witcher 3's post-release experience will inevitably crop up, and gamers will be questioning whether this expansion will offer good value for money—CD Projekt Red has indicated that this is their most expensive DLC undertaking in terms of development costs, but that has no bearing on how much content will exist within the final retail release. Recent company earnings calls have demonstrated that sales of their existing titles are slowing down, so CDP leadership will be looking forward to new product hitting the market soon-ish.

The cost of the DLC is irrelevant without knowing how much content you're getting. €30 is 60% of the original game price, so if it has 60% of the content then CDPR is being fair and hopefully this won't be a bug-riddled, incomplete mess this time, since the engine and game mechanics are largely stable and working now. All we need is mission and story content - if they could fix the cops to be more realistic that would be great, too.

you think 60% of the content of hte original game is fair? so they completely hit the nail on the head in price vs content huh?
Meanwhile all those comparisons people have done with games 10 to 20 year older still hold true.....

What Crispy said, if all you get is 10hrs of gameplay for example, than £30 is a rip-off and as Johnny tells V in the trailer, dont do it.

I mean the campaign in CP2077 is ~20h for a single playthrough but there are multiple endings so you are either going to put in multiple playthroughs or if you're like me go back to an earlier save and then fastrack from there to each of the endings. At the very least there's about 30h of content in CP2077 base game, so if we get 15-20h from Phantom Liberty then it'll be on par with the original game price.

Whether you think the original game price is worth is up to you, but presumably if you enjoyed CP2077 enough to be considering the expansion, then the answer to that is yes.

It's more CP 2077. I love using the Katana but I am stuck at getting into the Warehouse and I expect to get this as CP2077 is that Game that makes you feel like Yeah this is where Gaming is when I played Galaga and thought about the future. Just like Witcher though is that you really have to focus on what you are doing.

Just checked and I've clocked in 56 hours on my char right after finishing the game. 'GoG launcher says 80+ hours but I trust the in game stats more on my character itself'
I've did every mission with a story linked to them and only left some of the world activties undone.

I've bought the game on GoG in late 2022 with a 50% discount so I can't complain, that was well worth it for me and 20-30 euro seems reasonable to me for a proper DLC.

if you just speed run through the story it's probably not worth it -- if you do all of the other side content and play for immersion you can easily spend 200h in the game.

If they make a bundle deal of base game and expansion for $39, count me in. otherwise I will be waiting on a sale until they are both that price together. I don't own either yet. Was waiting for several patches, which was probably a good thing.

I'm ok with that. They've been working on that expansion pack for a while now so it's likely going to be good.

Patience young grasshoppers. This was just a leak. The official announcement will come. Let's not be negative-nellys, eh?

Sorry, beating a dead horse here. No way I am going to re-install that huge game just for a DLC who might or might not be good....
And no DLC is worth more than 20$ btw...

i thought this was an expansion pack not a DLC?

I remember paying 30 or 40 for Warcraft 3 RTS expansion pack the Frozen Throne, and fuck me sidways it was the best money I ever spent.

Then wait for the reviews?

Lol they want us to pay again
A dev wants you to buy an expansion pack for their blockbuster hit game? Think that over for a moment...(hint: expansion paks have RARELY been free)

This DLC thing was the worst invention ever happened to the Game industry. Previusly we had exapansions, which actually added very high value to the game. Blizzard was doing it the best. Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction was a great addition adding so many new good stuff. Same for Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne. A lot of content that actually changed the main game into a better game. Starcraft and Starcraft 2 were the same. You cannot play that game without the expansions, they were that good.
And now we have shitty DLCs that add just a couple of hours, and then can be forgotten since they don't add anything good. More like a side quest, or side story.... Pfff

we don't know if this is only a couple hours do we? i haven't kept up with it in detail, but for all we know this is a proper like 20-30 hour expansion with new features, mechanics, etc. we just have to wait and see.

What? Expansion paks(what DLCs are in reality) have been around since the 80's. It's not new and is not a bad thing. The only difference between the 80's, 90's, 2000's and now was that back then most expansions were in a physical format. DLC literally means Down-Loadable-Content. It's just a different way of naming expansion paks.

Starcraft and Starcraft 2 were the same. You cannot play that game without the expansions, they were that good.
That can be said for a lot of games. Command & Conquer and Quake for example.

After the total cock job that was the game when first released I certainly don't want to be paying for any DLC it should be free to compensate those of us who purchased the game at full price

They are trying to blur the lines. Expansion pack vs DLC. Traditionally, since the DLC came around it has served a place holder for something not as big as a expansion, but some new "content" for the game. They had a lot of people thinking this was going to be a free expansion, along side the 1.7 update. So now the question is, if we don't BUY DLC, will we get 1.7?

Phantom Liberty DLC or Phantom Liberty Expansion. At times I think they also call it a DLC so as to lower your expectations when it doesn't wow you. I feel as if some type of game is being played, I only got to do Meredith Stout once!

A bit, yeah. However, it's really not too difficult to work out the true expansions from the worthless fluff. CDPR does NOT have the reputation for dumping worthless fluff into their AAA titles. It'll be a proper expansion.

I don't remember...is it included in the standard version of the game or we have to purchase it separately?
Seriously? What does the article say?....
According to the screenshots Phantom Liberty will be available for a €29.99 pre-order price in Western Europe territories, which suggests a possible charge of around $30-35 for North American customers.
...hmmm...
