In honor of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Paradox Interactive and Nimble Giant Entertainment, under license from Paramount Consumer Products, revealed a new trailer and details for Star Trek: Infinite, a grand strategy game coming this Fall. Recently announced at Summer Games Fest 2023, Star Trek: Infinite takes players on a thrilling journey through space, placing them in the heart of the galactic struggles between the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Star Trek: Infinite, with its emergent gameplay and complex choices, launches on PC this Fall.

Though this game draws inspiration from the iconic Star Trek: The Next Generation, this story isn't just about one ship. Star Trek: Infinite puts players in command of one of four major powers in the galaxy: the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire. Each major power possesses individualized traits, stories, quests, and more to make their play feel distinct. Players can send fleets to explore the Alpha and Beta quadrants, manage an economy, and navigate diplomatic endeavors.

"As fans of the Star Trek franchise, we are committed to creating a game that stays true to the spirit of The Next Generation, in both its ideals and lore," said Martin Cao, CEO of Nimble Giant Entertainment. "Working within these bounds still allows for a wellspring of opportunities. Star Trek: Infinite rewards explorative play, gives players freedom to choose how they respond to the events that unfold in front of them, and provides a strong sense of identity as you lead your empire through the galaxy."

Whether building the influence of their homeworlds or risking exploration into the unknown, Star Trek: Infinite gives players endless choices and the opportunity to shape the destiny of their favorite Star Trek powers. Fans will experience a game faithful to the lore of a timeless franchise, as they embark on an unforgettable journey through space, encounter new civilizations, and forge a path among the stars.

To learn more, please visit the Star Trek: Infinite Steam page and stay tuned for further information and updates on the game's official Twitter, Instagram, and the Paradox Interactive YouTube channel.

Looks a lot like a reskinned Stellaris with a Star Trek mission tree.

Yep.

Remember Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was literally Age of Empires 2 with Star Wars skins? This feels a lot like that.

@Konyalee
you mean the show where physics/science gets completely ignored?
Movies were fine, but not interested in any SW games, short of doing scooter runs thru the forest in VR.

I don't know if you have played Empire at War but its one of the best the RTS games for me and my friends (we still play it to this day). Unfortunetely the game is 17 years old and needs a refresh. It would seem to me stellaris is the best game out there to be the base of a new EaW game with addition of politics and diplomacy coming into game.

If we're dreaming, why not a Star Trek like Star Citizen? But one that is released and not in permanent alpha, lagging, and bugfest

Hey, game dev's, here's a thought... make a game that ISN"T based on a 30+ year old show....

I like all ST alot (well, except for Burn-da-Hamner), but would rather see some of the more recent versions represented as opposed to the older ones....

Yea I know about the licensing/copyrights etc and all that, but just sayin....

But TNG Star Trek is best Star Trek! TNG is actually my favourite so I'm very happy to see a game based around it. My partner thinks Voyager is the best, but her opinion is wrong :D

Whoa, unpopular opinion that one I reckon! Though actually, I do know someone else who's favourite is DS9. She says part of it is that it deals with lots of culture clashes since it's lots of different cultures living on one station. I can sort of see that, but then Sisko is clearly the worst Star Trek Captain, all he does is get angry all the time!

I think that it has more to do with how the Klingons became far more than just a two-dimensional culture, we learned far more about Klingon culture during DS9 than during the whole of TNG. And then there's Worf, he had far more character development in DS9 than during all seven seasons of TNG. Oh yeah, Worf was the tactical officer and chief of security onboard the Enterprise but what else? Not much more than that. Yes, there was 2x14 The Icarus Factor where he had his Klingon Rite of Ascension but beyond that, TNG never delved more than that into Klingon culture; or at least, not when compared to that of what occurred in DS9.

I don't disagree with anything you said tbh, & Dax was also very interesting, as was Quark. My main rebuttal for TNG is probably just Jean-Luc Picard. Patrick Stewart was just fantastic as Picard in TNG, I could watch him negotiate a peace deal all day long :p oh & episodes with him & Q were a lot of fun. I dunno, TNG just had a real exploring the unknown vibe whereas DS9 felt more like a soap opera sort of vibe. Well I've just started shared parental leave for our second child so I'll have lots of hours in front of the TV so maybe I'll rewatch both & revaluate :D!

That is definitely the best arc, but that's the 6th & 7th seasons! I'm all for a bit of build up for a big story arc, but taking 5 seasons is a bit much  it's nice for a show to end on a high though, rather than just peter out like so many do.
