The Stormcast Eternals are mortal heroes transformed into supernatural warriors in the forges of Azyr. They are the God-King's wrath made manifest, and they were created for one single purpose: outright war! In Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, they are led by Sigrun, a commander of the Stormcast Eternals detachment sent to defend a Dawnbringer settlement known as Harkanibus.

Beset by relentless Orruk Kruleboyz raids, Sigrun must embark on a perilous mission to help them turn the tides of war. Learn more about how this formidable faction plays as well as more details about the Direct Step system offered to those playing on gamepad in the first of our Faction Focus video series (below).

Oh man... I keep trying but this whole Age of Sigmar setting isn't working for me. Look at those silly warriors. Trying so hard to be Space Marines in medieval times, but failing miserably at it, instead this looks like the umpteenth rendition of super futuristic warriors with celestial looks and... oh boy, they're 'eternal', so they can get back up again... but they're not Necrons... but they kinda look like them sometimes... but its not 40k. They have glowy shields, glowy crossbows and animation quality that reminds of gaming in 2005. Pfffff

Big fat no. I'll play more TW Warhammer thanks. That lore has soul, character, and it doesn't try too hard to take itself seriously like the one we see here. I get that distinct Power Rangers feel from it, where they yell 'kaaa-yaa!' to turn off a light switch and think maximum cringe effect in the audience is a good thing to achieve. In other words... this new Warhammer looks fun if you're 12, like so many reboots these days. I won't be surprised if the taunt button in the game is actually a Fortnite dance.

I know right. Grim-dark and over-the-top works so well, I don't understand for one moment why they revamped things for Warhammer. It had a similar setting, with a good splash of self-reflective humor and lots of cool references to real history, like a perfect marriage; they also embraced the anti-hero style of army compositions and faction ideas; like, every faction is in some way pretty horrible to be a part of, and it really adds to the character of all factions. Everything is imperfect, and the imperfection is its strength; Orc animosity/infighting for example. The Empire's stranglehold of duty and faith. Etc.

In Age of Sigmar, everything tries to look perfect and it achieves the polar opposite of what it wants to do.

We're supposed to look at this and see a fearsome warrior that has risen from the dead a few dozen times? Or is he going to summon his unicorn next and ride off into the rainbow and clouds. Or maybe he'll get bored of his blonde hair and try pink next while forgetting his eyebrows. I just don't know.

And this is what we had.
