Yeah, big fat nope on that one.
LG already makes you agree to their ToS (sell your data) in order for the TV to have full functionality / receive updates.

I recently moved and decided to get a new TV for the place come football season. I'm aware of LG Panels and the TV was a good price. What they don't tell you is that the home menu of the TV will have sponsored content and apps that... can not be removed by the user . I never though I'd have to look into cracking my fucking television.

Get a samsung- they don't have this issue.

pihole on spare pc is the answer. I did it with rokutv the sob sends data 100's of times in an hour.

The "smart" features on your TV suck. Don't use them.

A FullHD cam on a 4K TV that only supports a proprietary LG call app that nobody uses. Unless they get zoom/teams/facebook video messenger/facetime/skype to work with it, nobody cares.

LG "smart" OS has become a festering nest of ads, the only way to use a LG TV these days is to disconnect it from the Internet.
After the customer pays thousands of dollars on one TV, you try to pinch a few cents on some out of context ads on a platform that doesnt even allow purchases? How pathetic can you be LG?

The answer is to not connect it to the internet (or only when it needs a firmware update). I'm plenty happy to report my LG has been great to me without using the smart features at all.

It doesnt matter what you do with the tv. What you dont know is these/smart tv's are designed to send data; whatever is played on screen it will send data. unless you block the ip addresses data is getting sent.
Once it connects online for any form of update it has an established connection for data collection.

I'm confident I know a lot more about this than the userbase here, and no, without wifi credentials it just isn't getting online.
