American online retailer, Newegg, has perhaps jumped the gun a little by readying CPU listings for an "AMD Starfield Game Bundle Promotion." The store page was noticed by some eagle-eyed folks over the weekend, and news sites were soon tipped off to the early announcement. AMD was revealed as Starfield's exclusive partner on PC last week, but upcoming promotions/bundles were not mentioned during presentation proceedings. Newegg's mini-site only functions as a promo product container (at the time of writing) for all available Ryzen 7000-series CPUs—individual SKU pages are void of any Starfield material, and the previous Star Wars Jedi: Survivor campaign ended on June 30.

The Newegg promo page includes everything in the mainstream Zen 4 lineup—from the entry-level Ryzen 5 7600 model going all the way up to the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D, but internet sleuths were unable to track down anything representing an equivalent campaign for AMD's latest Radeon RX graphics cards. Team Red's Zen 4 and RDNA 3 technologies got plenty of shout-outs in last week's partnership presentation: "Making this game even more special, is the close collaboration between Bethesda and AMD to unlock the full potential of Starfield. We have worked hand-in-hand with Bethesda Game Studios to optimize Starfield for both Xbox and PC with Ryzen 7000 series processors and Radeon 7000 series graphics. The optimizations both accelerate performance and enhance the quality of your gameplay using highly multi-threaded code that both Xbox and PC players will get to take advantage of."

According to Newegg's mini-store page, the following SKUs are eligible for the upcoming Starfield bundle:
  • Ryzen 9 7950X3D
  • Ryzen 9 7950X
  • Ryzen 9 7900X3D
  • Ryzen 9 7900X
  • Ryzen 9 7900
  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • Ryzen 7 7700X
  • Ryzen 7 7700
  • Ryzen 5 7600X
  • Ryzen 5 7600

Most likely a buggy mess like the rest of their games are on release.
Well it is Creation Engine, so yeah.

Still, people are going to rush out to play the Bethesda RPG on day one, they never learn.

I'll wait for the third release of the game, second rerelease is just all DLC, third usually has something *special* going for it.

So true. Can't wait for youtube videos with bug compilations.

So, they are giving free game code if you buy cpu, kinda nice :).

Cannon fodder for the Matchbox vs Hot Wheels argument.

Clickbait, milionaire YTubers making a living by blowing every little thing aside, there is a legit concern under all that
One of the less pressing in the tech world of today, but still i would say this should totally be avoided, especially if the other 2 decide to do the same this can become a mess really quickly

On the matter of "exclusiveness" with this game:

Do you know any game that has dlss and fsr at the same time? :D I don't.

Fsr can be used on all three brands while dlss works on nvidia only. Intel alternative I think works only on intel as well. So AMD is the bad guy?

Don't forget nvidia - high end coolers only on nvidia gpu's while amd can have only weaker coolers on their gpu's, nice, right? At least nvidia got face puched by this .

Absolutely this. I wait for sales on the three month PC Game Pass cards and then stock up. I'm paid up through January. Average cost so far is about $6/month. No need to spend $70 or buy one of Aye Em Deez latest CPUs to play this mess.

It's Creation Engine 2.

Yeah yeah, I'm aware.

Yet, since I'm a professional that works in the private sector - and have experienced most of what that entails when it comes to humans trying to do good things in less than ideal environments - I reserve judgment as to how good/bad Creation Engine 2 could be until it has had a chance to prove itself. Plenty of time for judgment after that.

One thing can't be denied:
No matter how annoying, buggy, leaky and frustrating the Gamebryo/Creation engine has proven to be, I would suffer through all of it again to ensure we get the same top-class modding community that has friction-ed into existence because of it.

On the matter of "exclusiveness" with this game:

If you ask me, I would say that the existence of these technologies is more anti-consumer than anything else.

Ever since these futile upscaling techniques were created to make Nvidia's "Games with RT" slogan possible, games have become more and more buggy, in addition to the disparity in the ratio between requirements and graphics quality. If I were a professional developer (and had control over the development), I would focus on optimizing the game even if I had to stretch deadlines.

NVIDIA and Intel (who both have superior upscaling solutions) support Streamline, a tool to easily integrate all the competing upscalers, yet AMD refuses to implement it.

It makes sense that Intel would be on board, they hardly have XeSS in many titles so any boost to adoption would be welcome for them.

It's almost if when there's a choice, people will pick the best option, can't have that now.

Given that AMD or Intel users can't use DLSS (the best option), that's impossible. If this was one of your perceived benefits of Streamline, well it's not going to let people pick the best option.

From AMD's perspective it makes no sense to support steamline. FSR already works on all vendor's cards and AMD has full control over the implementation processes.

Of course I'm not saying that should AMD blocking DLSS in some games (details of whatever is happening are still unknown) is good, just pointing out the logic.

You can have choice and it is up to you, but damn. People hyping up dlss and hating fsr while you can use it on all brands is funny while dlss locks to one brand. (Have used both titles which I have played and - both look the same for me on 2k monitor.)

No, just it's always nice to have a choice, and someone fighting against it is an asshole, corporate or otherwise, that's all. Then choose whatever you like.

Intel XeSS can be run on any GPU.
Has Intel shared it's Quicksync drivers with AMD to get their GPU working in that application? Did Nvidia make the binaries for Physx available for free right after they bought it. Is Nvidia's version of Ray Tracing what DX12 was supposed to be? Did AMD say that they could not bid on the current console and is EVGA the bad guy for the debacle that has been 12V and where AIBs have had to price their cards to make money? You are trying to make AMD seem like the bad guy when they have given us ALL more than what Intel (4 cores for 10 years) gave us and then remember the very first 4K 120Hz monitor only supported Gsync? I also am old enough to remember when they locked PhysX for people that bought Nvidia cards with their own money to be locked out. Now we have 1 Game that is not getting Day one DLSS support and the pitchforks and anti AMD Fanboys get their blowhorns out. Just because you feel that DLSS is the best option does not make it so.

DLSS has cemented the idea in people's minds that Nvidia cards are inherently worth more than competitors; that's the worst element. This results in the current situation of high prices with no improvements in raw hardware performance (barring the irrelevant top end halo product). HUB offer good data, and are critical of Nvidia. But in my opinion they've been duped and don't even realize it. The second they give any credence to Nvidia's "software feature" argument and state there is some nebulous added value to it, Nvidia wins regardless of what they say in the review. They contribute to Nvidia's image as a "premium" brand.
Driver optimizations are one thing, but upscalers and frame generation should be ignored by reviewers. That goes for Intel and AMD. In fact, Intel should have focused on functional drivers and efficient hardware rather than an upscaler.
If they want to talk about Nvidias advantage, mention Ray Tracing. To me it's not a worthwhile advantage yet since you still take a large performance hit when enabling it, but at least it is a HARDWARE advantage.

You do... realise... that the success DLSS and DLAA enjoy is also due to a hardware advantage... right? That's the point of the tensor cores, to accelerate AI stuff, and it's why NVIDIA's upscaling and deep learning anti aliasing (which is the best AA available) is possible, and superior to FSR or XeSS, which run simpler models, XeSS is slightly better than FSR, but not on the level of DLSS/DLAA.

You have to pixel peep at stills to find any kind of issue with frame generation, and DLSS allows ray tracing without any performance penalty. DLAA is just turning up IQ basically for free. Besides, if you don't like upscaling, just don't turn it on, many do though, and appreciate the option to run a hardware accelerated AI model.

It's interesting that the 7950X3D is for some reason cheaper than the normal 7950X in this promo, I wonder why.
