DMCA Strikes Point to Modern Warfare III Being the next Call of Duty Title

A flurry of DMCA take down notices, on Activision's part, have brought even more attention to an alleged Call of Duty internal alpha test. Leakers have been talking about Modern Warfare III being the likely candidate for a new CoD release this year, following a planned premium expansion for MW II morphing into a full-fledged sequel. Activision has been busy scrubbing the internet clean of screenshots sourced from the alleged "Hailström" test build, but issued copyright strike messages contain references to the next entry in the series. Targeted tipsters have been warned about activity that has resulted in: "leaked content from unreleased video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" appearing on social media and other gaming community hubs.

The publisher has semi-acknowledged that the cat is out of the bag, and yesterday addressed the fan base with a simple query: "Let's get this out of the way...Should MW II Operators, Weapons and Bundles carry forward into Call of Duty 2023?" This official tweet was shared by the Sledgehammer Games account—this Activision-owned studio is rumored to be the primary development house working on Modern Warfare III, with other Call of Duty-oriented outfits providing additional support. Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021) was Sledgehammer's third fully developed entry in the blockbuster (and highly contested) series.

Vanguard was the worst CoD I ever played so even with this most likely being a 70$ DLC-refresh of MW2 my expectations are extremely low, probably as low as they've been for CoD, and the bar is already low after MW2!

I think Sledgehammer in general has the worst received CoD's. They should leave it to Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

Sledgehammer has truly fallen from grace. I thought call of duty ww2 was one of the best cods ever made as far as multiplayer and zombies. But vanguard sucked, and I sure as hell don't trust them to make a MW title. That being said I have not played COD since they added battle royale and hopped on the battle pass train. Last game I consistently played was infinite warfare and I loved that game to death.

I wish them luck I guess. But I am not buying it anyways.

Haven’t played COD myself since COD4 ( (the original MW). To this day I still don’t understand the appeal of COD beyond that.

Then again, it’s been nearly 1.5 decades since bitcoin got onto my radar, and I still don’t understand why people see value in that either, lol.

CoD is like fast food. Provides instant satisfaction and after you just feel bad. And when comming back you get remembered why you took a break.

Then again, it’s been nearly 1.5 decades since bitcoin got onto my radar, and I still don’t understand why people see value in that either, lol.

Bitcoin is a speculative "currency", so most buy into it in the hopes for quick profits. But it's mostly used by the mafia & the cartels to "wash" their drug, guns & human trafficking money.

It's also the last of its kind. Valorant, Overwatch and CSGO play completely differently so if someone wants a multiplayer 6v6, small maps, no "hero ability" bs - shootah there's simply not much choice. Maybe Ubisoft's XDefiant can help - it's the first game that even remotely plays like CoD in years.

It's not even a video game anymore. It's just a framework for monetization that leverages every possible psychological manipulation. Not only is the matchmaking clearly rigged to create an emotional rollercoaster that fosters addiction, but recently, there's been growing belief/observation that the gameplay itself is being manipulated. They have patents for that.

The Black Ops series was probably the high point of the franchise, gameplay is about what you'd expect but the story was amazing (which considering the type of game is saying something...) and the multiplayer also delivered with things like the Zombie mode.
