Point well taken,....

However, there are some assumptions being made with your assertions. First many who already have a PS5 won't be upgrading to a PS5 Pro, I know I won't. Those who buy a PS5 Pro looking to take advantage of the feature set such as 8K probably already have an 8K display and as such aren't necessarily making wise purchasing choices,.......and have money burning a whole in their pockets,......

I for one never really understood the point of the Pro version of the PlayStation line because they always come too late in the production cycle. If Sony wants me to consider a Pro product they need to launch it alongside the standard version or very nearly so. Failing that, for example, I can stick with the PS5 until the PS6 comes out,.......No problem,...
I do wonder though about people who waited just buying the cheaper version. The late buyers purchased the pro versions last time due to everyone having 4k TVs but I just don't think this pro version has the same level of necessity. To be clear, if you don't already have a PS5, this would be the one you should get but I have seen a lot of people just get the cheaper one when the benefit isn't immediately clear.

Even the slim was an upgrade as it considerably upgraded the wifi so helped on downloading speeds, but the PS5 does come with wifi 6 out of the box which I have topped 600mbps internet on it with some quick testing.

Yep. XBSX and PS5 definitely turned out to be great cross-gen devices. But now more and more games are rendering internally at 720p to reach unstable 60 FPS, so I'm not surprised they want to release a refresh. Why bother optimizing their 70-dollar games for 3-year-old hardware, just make us buy a new console every 4 years instead. Gotta pay those CEOs and investors somehow.

GDDR6X won't ever be used outside of an Nvidia product, so that's already a hit towards this person's credibility. I seriously doubt that if the PS5 Pro exists it has a target for 8K at all. There just isn't a big enough 8K market to worry about it. We are just now seeing 4K high refresh TVs starting to become the norm. I picture it to be very similar to the PS4 to PS4 Pro. The APU would still have Zen 2 CPU cores as the PS5, only clocked higher, and RDNA2 based GPU cores with Sony's modifications, but with more CUs and possibly also clocked higher. I expect it will stay with 16GBs of RAM on a 256bit bus, but be clocked at 18 or 20Gbps. It might possibly get a larger internal SSD, but considering the CFI-2000 'Slim' was already upgraded to 1TB, I think they'll stay with that. Perhaps Sony will be kind enough to include a full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 port, allow up to 144Hz refresh rates and expand the VRR window down to 40Hz.

Really? I didn't hear about that. Sucks for Vizio, and the purchasers in that case. I was proud to own one of their sets when they were up and coming. I think TCL or Hisense supplanted them and they've never been able to come back.
