CD PROJEKT RED showcased the "New Ways to Play" trailer at this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live, presenting the new features coming to Cyberpunk 2077 with the Phantom Liberty expansion and free Update 2.0. CD PROJEKT RED's Gameplay Designer Yuliia Pryimak joined Geoff Keighley onstage to discuss the premiere of the "New Ways to Play" trailer, which included a compilation of new gameplay features arriving as part of the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion and as part of the free Update 2.0.

The trailer unveiled new exclusive features coming to the spy-thriller expansion Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, including the Relic skill tree. The new skill tree offers a wide range of powerful abilities that allow players to master new playstyles and create unique, meaningful builds. Phantom Liberty also introduces a densely packed new location, Dogtown, with endless dynamic events and missions, action-packed gigs, new clothing items, weapons, cyberware, and more to explore.

The "New Ways to Play" trailer also highlighted the game's redesigned perks system, showing off some brand-new perks that offer players more impactful gameplay options and the ability to take down enemies in thrilling, original ways. Enemy AI in combat will also be improved, making fights more dynamic and intuitive.

Another major overhaul revealed in the trailer is the new police system. Police AI has been improved, meaning the NCPD will respond to player actions in more realistic and engaging ways, including setting up roadblocks, attempting to ram players off the road and more. Driving around Night City will also see upgrades with the introduction of vehicle combat, which allows the player to shoot while driving and quickhack enemy vehicles from cars and motorbikes.

The redesigned skill trees, overhauled police system, and vehicle combat will all be available for free as part of Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty releases September 26th on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players take on the role of V, a cyber-enhanced mercenary for hire who is pulled into the world of spies and political-intrigue, joined by sleeper agent Solomon Reed played by Idris Elba.

CDPR will score major brownie points if the base game gets car combat and the other improvements without having to buy the DLC.
That would go a long, long way towards rehabilitating their image.

Scam of a base game? You a troll or something?
Been a long time since that disastrous release, base game is excellent now.
CDPR made a lot of promises in the years leading up to the launch, many of which went unfulfilled (*cough* multi-player *cough*).

Some people are understandably bitter and upset that CDPR over promised and under delivered. Basically everything CDPR did leading up to the game was the wrong thing to do, a classic B-school example.

Even with a stunted game, the disastrous launch that could have been largely avoided. Most of the egregious PC bugs have been cleaned up but fundamental flaws in the game's structure, gameplay, mechanics, linear storyline, etc. all remain. No amount of bug fixes will fix inherent design and story flaws.

They probably destroyed some goodwill with SIE as well as Xbox. How well does this title run on PS4? Xbox One? Remember, this title was originally slated to debut on those two platforms before PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were launched. And if it was meant for PS4/Xbox One, it shouldn't have required an RTX 3090 for acceptable framerates on PC.

I think the base game is worth $14.99 or $19.99. It most certainly isn't worth full retail. Never was and never will be.

CP2077 was really supposed to be the new flagship franchise that would take CDPR beyond The Witcher, for 10+ years of IP. CDPR flunked the test and now they are desperately trying to restart The Witcher jalopy because CP2077 is a dead end.

I expect a big spike in Steam concurrent players when Phantom Liberty debuts. Numbers will fall off a cliff in Europe when EA Sports FC 2024 (formerly FIFA) releases three days later. Assassin's Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder all release in a sixteen day span between October 5 and October 20. You can basically stick a fork in CP2077 then.

CDPR said that the game was developed on PC first, then they tried to shoehorn it on the previous gen...While I won't deny that maxing the game do require a lot of power, I've played it at launch with a miserable GTX 1660 super, and the game didn't look worse than any of the other games that my GPU could run at the time :D. A mix of medium/High looked incredible in 2019:

They publicly confirmed that there's a Cyberpunk sequel planned: CD Projekt Red confirms Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, next Witcher trilogy and new IP | Eurogamer.net
The Witcher making a comeback first might have to do with them leaving the RED engine for good, and feeling more comfortable to develop a new workflow with a genre that the studio has been historically good with. CP2077 development suffered on all aspect: crazy management that added idea on the fly, new engine that ended up being a spaghetti code, development money for the crowd AI that went somewhere else (????), all the while trying to do something that they were new at. We've clearly seen that what might be acceptable for a fantasy open world won't cut it for an urban open world

Nah, the game was originally intended to launch on the PS4 and Xbox One about a year before the current generation consoles debuted. That would give CDPR a large number of console players to sell to. It was meant to perform well on the established console hardware in place.

All videogames are developed on PC. The whole launch was bungled. None of the various versions were anything approaching release quality.

Remember that this game was heavily refunded on all major storefronts. Money talks and much of it walked back.

The worst thing about this (well, beyond the shareholder lawsuits and bad employee morale) is the destruction of goodwill.

You can say that CDPR bit off more than they could chew but it's really the responsibility of the game director and senior management to set reasonable expectations, to their own employees, their partners, their customers, and their shareholders. CDPR basically failed across the board. Sure, switching engines is difficult but it's not the first time. Any in the end, none of the excuses mattered. Their responsibility was to put a playable, enjoyable product in front of the customers.

Only the people who shorted CDPR stock (and their lawyers) came out ahead.

Today, who trusts anything CDPR says? This alleged CP2077 sequel will be years late if it ever gets launched. Will there be enough mindshare in the gaming community for them to sell enough copies to break even?

Wish they would release the 1.7, or I suppose the now 2.0 patch, to the base game already and not wait for the add on. Itll be my last try at it. 1.5 seemed to have been fine for most but I thought it barely fixed anything.

Imagine defending this game 3 years later, a game that had just minor fixes during this time, while the major problem, the lack of content, still present

So you wanna more content, huh? Here's a 30 bucks DLC that won't solve that before we ditch the whole game, and move to the next one

I bought Cyberpunk on release day. (Street Kid)
Played through it while streaming the gameplay on my Core i7 5960/ 3090/32GB DDR4/ SSD PC.
I experienced minor bugs but nothing game breaking.

Played through the game a second time (Corpo). The game has probably the best sci-fi writing and original music I've heard aside from the Mega Man franchise.
I was waiting for the game to be fully "fixed" before I'll play through it again.

This time, however, I'll be on a i9 13900K/4090/64GB DDR5/8TB SSD.

I'm assuming the brute force specs will make it look even better.

I was not initially excited for Cyberpunk.
I bought it based solely on the hype and I was blown away by it.
Best sci-fi story I'd ever heard, best original music, best graphics, etc.
It was NEVER gonna' work on the last gen consoles - and they never should have tried.
Even if it technically could work, you lose the nudity! My PC streamed videos are still getting Youtube views just because the viewers want to see the "scenes".

My biggest problem with the game is the main storyline with Johnny Silverhand drags a bit on the first playthrough, but seriously sucks if you have to replay through it a second and third time. Hopefully the new storylines will help.

There's also huge portions of the map that are unused.

Been a long time since that disastrous release, base game is excellent now.

it isnt though, the fact that the police is seemingly mildly fixed in the upcoming update is a testament to that.
How is the destruction/deformation these days? on par yet with GTA San Andreas?
How about the AI? on par yet with San Andreas?

Do we yet contribute to those on-rails shooting sections or are they still so scripted that not even firing a single bullet still results in the enemy crashing or blowing up at a set time?

Do we have more then 1 forced introduction cutscene yet for the cyberware upgrades?

Do gangs yet have some tracked attitude towards you based on your choices in the game so they can randomly attack you during gameplay?
Heck...do choices matter yet?

Can we customize cars yet? (yes I know before launch they said it would not be in the game...but come on, Cyberpunk? I mean look at the promotional material, they know your car is just as much a character as you are....)
Have any extra vehicles been added since release, seeing as there were always pretty much just a handful that were super repetitive on the roads....

Is there literally anything at all in the game (apart from the amount of RT) that actually makes this game something special and next generation/boundry pushing compared to games from the past 2 decades?

is it not sad I can watch a video from E3 from eons ago, where Valve shows off what Source can do for the first time...and that that stuff is still impressive and supersedes many games today?

What are you talking about? All system updates like the police will be available for free in the base game with an update after the DLS is live.

Ok what are "system updates"?
Will the base game get the new cars? or are those exclusive for this DLC? because if they are...that is just bad considering the basegame really only has a handful of cars in it.

I find it very interesting you find the story good, best scifi story you ever heard? I mean...really?

2001 space odyssey, The Cube, Alien, Star Trek, Star Wars, Matrix, Robocop, Judge Dredd, Minority Report, looper, Tenet, Inception, Dune, Event Horizon, Ex Machina, Soma, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, Battle Angel Alita, Death Stranding, Portal (2), Akira

but this game.....contains the best sci-fi story you have ever heard?

and really? best graphics? I know the RT does a lot for the ...well lighting but for the rest?

and it was never going to work on the last gen consoles is something I completely do not believe, the freaking ps3 and xbox 360 were capable of running GTA5, a game that in just about every aspect is more impressive then cyberpunk and there are multiple videos on youtube to support that and you are claiming the far superior ps4 and xbox one would never been able to run this crap? really?
