Hello, it's unbelievable to me that it has been SEVEN years since No Man's Sky was released, and to celebrate today we are releasing our largest update of the year - No Man's Sky ECHOES. Our aim with ECHOES has been to breathe new life into the universe, with a new robotic race, our first race introduced since launch in 2016. We have also overhauled space combat with a focus on creating truly epic space battles, introducing freighter-to-freighter battles for the first time.

In ECHOES Travellers will discover a never seen before, long-hidden race of robots with rich new story content. Engage in robot assignments and rituals to earn a huge array of mechanical parts to create your own robotic avatar. New pirate freighters bring huge space battles to the universe. Defend fleets from pirates. Fly through enemy trenches to sabotage their shields, and destroy them!

Meet a secret society of robotic aliens in update 4.4, ECHOES! Furthering the narrative introduced in INTERCEPTOR, explore the mysteries of the Autophage, perform their rituals, learn their language, and assemble your own ceremonial staff. In deep space, confront huge outlaw dreadnoughts, sweep through their trenches and destroy vulnerable components in new tactical space combat - and much more!

Players can search out and assemble their own sci-fi ceremonial staff. Level this up with unique new technology to mine and battle your way through the universe. Travellers can now search for, trade and scrap weapons, allowing players to become Multi-Tool scrap merchants. Travellers can also choose from a wider array of weapons and tools, including the staff and also a new powerful Atlantid weapon.

This year we introduced the ability to store a catalogue of player's most wondrous discoveries. A new holographic museum allows you to decorate and display your favourite weird and wonderful discoveries in your base for others to visit and see. An exploration focused expedition - VOYAGERS - starts soon for explorers and adventurers to explore the universe and catalogue its marvels. Together with a Twitch drops campaign this brings a host of new content and rewards for players.

Rendering quality, stability and performance have had improvements across the board in this update. In particular for PSVR2 players foveated rendering brings a large quality improvement throughout the game. On Switch new performance improvements and a new anti-aliasing solution makes visuals crisper on screen and in handheld. Whether you're standing on a vista overlooking a planetary landscape, or marvelling at the beauty and the expanse of the solar system, the universe has never looked better!

These are just a few of the things that players can look forward to when they dive into the Echoes update from today.

It has already been a pretty busy year for the small No Man's Sky team with players enjoying the launch of the FRACTAL and INTERCEPTOR updates and the major SINGULARITY expedition. Fittingly ECHOES marks our anniversary by making our universe more exciting, dangerous and interesting to explore.

Our journey continues.

Yeah I want to love the game more than I do... but damn it's very impressive the level of support Hello Games has given the game.

Looks like Starfield has stolen a number of elements from No Man's Sky too.

7 years old game and still sales for $60? No, thank You.

its on sale for 29 most of the time and has no microtransactions or dlc to my knowledge. they got to make their money somehow. i think 29 is fair, i don't own it peronally, but if its ever included in my Hunble Choice someday I will probably play it for sure.

My brother and I started playing it co-op. Only played a few hours, will hop back into it eventually (probably some months down the road after we sate our apatite in BG3. A lot has been added since the initial release when I last played it, it feels like a completely different game from what I remember - base building, ship building, co-op and the list goes on.

I'm impressed they're still adding to it. Nice to see.

You dont have to buy it, and every game goes on sale at some time, just gotta find the sales. Most games lose support after a short time, these guys have supported the game for 7yrs. I dont own it but I might in the future.

It's a big sandbox game. You do whatever you want. Build, fight or chill.
Also, they add expeditions where you learn the new mechanics from updates with a new save you create in th expedition universe. Free rewards and stuff. The next one will arrive soon. You can collect every rewards on every saves and the expedition save is converted to a "normal" save when you accomplish the expedition (or when the timer runs out).

Yeah, man. My wishlist is huge! I can't play games half as fast as they're getting released, so I have to filter, unfortunately. :(

More like 'developed the game post launch' for seven years.

That's one monumental waste of hours if you ask me, looking at what they've got today. There still isn't much of a game to play. Combat still is godawful as is general movement - ultra clunky, bottom barrel animations, and just plain annoying really. Nobody goes out fighting sentinels for fun. Ship to ship combat is possibly worse.

I played NMS at launch and it wasn't bad as long as there were new things to figure out, and when it ran out it was instant boredom. But with the base building started a new spree of 'content releases' that feel more like busywork and carrot chases than real content. Its more on the level of collecting new skins, or setting 'a goal' so you don't have to wander aimlessly. But the goals amount to nothing.

It's a big sandbox game. You do whatever you want. Build, fight or chill.
I think this is the game's biggest problem. There are no real reasons to want things. The universe is endless, so while there is some idea of persistence of whatever you do... it doesn't feel much like it because 99% of the places are entirely interchangeable. I really tried liking NMS, I love the idea and the setting... but it doesn't work for me.
