PowerColor Radeon RX 7600 GPU Drops to $229 at MicroCenter

In my country this model of PowerColor in this moment is selling between $323-$354 USD.

I feel your pain. But in my country, the very same card price begins since $359. And there's like 5 listings, and all from shady stores with 80% negative score. All of them give twelve month warranty from store, no coupon. There's only one to couple stores, in the entire country, who give AMD Starfield/game coupons, and this particular model, doesn't have one.

Sapphire 7600 Pulse starts from $400+ bucks, with no coupons, and included either. And that's about 35 stores. None of them. And many do not even have a warranty.

Please explain.

I guess, this is because, this is by specs is the x500 class GPU. This trend started with previous generation, with RX6600.

Be it RX7500 class card, the performance bump over previous gen 6650XT (which was a bit higher level card) would be much bigger, and would really show generational uplift. But these shenanigans with class/grade and artificial segmentation, simply the "downlplay" the entire progress, which used to be a normal for gen to gen uplift.

No worries. Was not aware of the detailed specs of those cards and was curious. Nvidia has done this as well with several GPU models..

Exactly. I wouldn't touch that thing. For $229 most of the time you can get a 2080 Ti or even 3070 on Ebay. Sometimes a 3070 Ti. Shoot 3080's sell for $300-320 sometimes.

Good luck. And most likely 3080 is from mining farms. What chance is to get working card, and not a dead brick which doesn't even boot?

In my case, eBay is not an option, since in most cases ebay/sellers refuse to deliver in my country. And the the local second hand market is a disaster. It's not only extremely pricey (the sellers ask for 3 years old cars, which been in mining for two of them), but it's shady as heck. In many cases also have up to no warranty, full upfront payment, and most likely has almost no resource left, if at all. All sellers are "suspicious" to say the least. Who in right mind would pay upfront for some old overpriced card, which may end up a malfunctioning turd.

Why I'm sure of the cards are DOA? Because here, all nice cards from both AMD and nVidia went straight to the miners by pallets. Even the local (country) forums and Y T videos were full of pics and comments and about mining, long after Ethereum has been bust. And the official stores have up to no supply for entire RX6000/RTX3000 generation. How the second hand market is full of hundreds if not thousands of cards, if the official "distributors" did not have them at all?

The funny thing is, these scalping-miners guys were so bold and lazy, that they've even been posting racks, mining farms and pallets of 6600-6650XT, 6700XT, 6750XT, 6800XT, 6900XT and 6950XT, (again mostly Sapphire) in local second hand market, refusing to disassemble them, and demanding people buy the racks/farms “as it is”. Now the very same guys and other substitute accounts, selling these very same cards from mining farms now with the naming written with caps "FACTORY SEALED" (no jokes). And there are dozens of such listings, with hundreds of cards. But that's "suspicious" to say the least.

Well you obviously have to be very picky with your seller, item description, and returns portion. For instance I just scored a 6 month old Evga RTX 3080 with warranty and original box for $390 shipped. It's just like buying from people here on the forums. There has been plenty other small sellers that have nice stuff that goes for $340-350 that I've missed out on while not paying attention. Some of the other brands go for less, like Gigabyte. I wouldn't buy one with no box and no history like if it were just a reseller. Just private people that have upgraded. Yeah you have to sort through a lot of garbage that says "tested working", no description at all, etc or other basic crap like they are just buy used stuff in bulk and chock it on ebay but it is worth it. Plus I'll message the people gauge how well it was taken care of lol. It's fun to hunt down a good one LOL.

I am not saying the 7600 doesn't work, it was just a kinda bleh release of a refreshed 6nm 6650XT. Even a new 4060 at $289 is solid but the price point just really doesn't make sense. BUT My personal thoughts are that if somebody has ~$300 to spend on a GPU at this moment, why not just wait a couple weeks until your next paycheck to scrap together another $100. Opens up a who new realm instead of just shorting yourself. I guess you could say that for every price bracket but the lower end stuff just really doesn't make sense to me. Plus it would last that much longer. Anything less and you are better off buying a PS5 LOL aside from it being boring because it just works and you can't tinker with it like a custom build.
