Scott Herkelman, senior vice president and general manager of AMD's Graphics Business Unit made a slightly unexpected announcement during an IGN live streamed discussion at Gamescom 2023. Following the official unveiling of Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT GPUs on Friday, Herkelman sat down for a brief interview regarding the future of Team Red's RDNA 3 generation—he was asked whether there were any additional Radeon RX 7000-series models on the horizon. In response he stated: "Well, the RDNA3 portfolio is now complete. Of all products that we have planned to launch, that is, this is the last few products that we will launch. We may have some different versions, but they are not a new ASIC…It's been a journey, it's been about a year since we launched the very first RDNA 3 and now we are a year later finishing up the series. We should be done, we are done and we are excited. And now I think we have a broad spectrum covered for people who want RDNA 3 up and down the price tag."

His announcement seemingly confirms that Team Red is satisfied enough to conclude RDNA 3 post the September 6 launch of their Navi 32-based Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT cards, with a grand total of a mere six desktop-oriented SKUs—Herkelman perhaps forgot to mention possible mobile variants. This is slightly odd given that non-XT Radeon RX 7800 and 7700 GPUs have cropped up via leaks in the recent past, and speculation has also pointed to a true entry-level RX 7500 model being in the works. Herkelman hinted that refreshed variants could be released down the road, perhaps akin to the mid-gen update of existing RDNA 2 ASICs (e.g RX 6700 XT -> RX 6750 XT). AMD may rely on its previous generation Radeon technology to fill in the gaps not occupied by RDNA 3—it is believed that an RX 6750 GRE graphics card (RX 6700 non-XT variant) is in the pipeline.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
It's curious that Navi32 is only 60 compute units. With The 7600 having 32, and the 7900XTX having 96, I don't think I was alone in originally expecting Navi32 to be 64 compute units. All of the leaks for 60CU had me assuming that it was four disabled units to improve yields, but here we are with the full silicon being mysteriously short.

64 compute units is the logical expectation from a 256-bit bus, 16GB VRAM, 64MB cache product too. For whatever reason, it seems to be short 4 compute units and down on clocks slightly...

It's not dissimilar to Polaris getting 36 CU instead of the expected 32 back in 2016...

Surprised we wont see a 7600xt. Seems like quite a gap for RDNA3 in the $300-400 segment

Yeah he is right when you only look on Asics aka chips like N31/32/33.....this does not imply that we will not see a 7600XT or 7700 non XT with the existing chips. At least that is my understanding and opinion.

Many buyers could go on hold thinking there will be more models in the market, so no wonder he says that the 7000 series is complete for consumers to start using their wallets.

The market is definitely slow, there's still a glut of 6000 inventory. And given what a poor improvement rDNA3 is, they should have just kept the 6000s around, rename them, and kept going. They've done it before.
(and nVidia brainwashed customers and sold out reviewers don't help either) .
Perhaps AMD should start launching competitive products in a timely manner?

Nah, just call consumers brainwashed., THAT'LL work!

AMD has an issue with this segment. It's where polaris stopped as well, and vega never touched it. For some reason AMD just isnt interested in meat and potato cards anymore.

I bet the 7700XT will fill that void @ $399 soon enough.

25% faster than a 4060 Ti doesn't lead to lowering the price. If anything nvidia should lower the already preposterously priced 4070 if 7800 Xt proves to be a decent opponent that is, 16GB already makes it a winner in case DLSS can be disregarded.

It was announced the other day 12GB and $449. That is the 7600xt no matter what they want you to believe.

That is is the 7600

Seems like GPU pricing and ASIC/SKU tiering is all sorts of whacky (ie, re-adjusting) lately.

Rumors also say no more Geforce cards like 4080 Ti and 4090 Ti. I think both companies are done until 2025.

Far from it. they're bluffing. this 12GB 4070 Ti for example can't survive until 2025. no way,.

7900XTX $899 as 100% performance
7900 XT $769 85%
7800XT drops at 499 as 60% linear performance per $
7700XT 10% slower at 449

to conclude 50% performance for 50% price is just very linear, not wacky

With RDNA4 N41 and N42 now cancelled, and N51 possibly not out until end of 2025 at best, it would be madness for AMD not to offer refreshed 7900's IMO. I know they won't but why not give us a 7950XT/XTX using RDNA3.5 say Q3 2024.

N43 might be out early Q3 and apparently 8600 will be a pretty big upgrade especially in RTing but I wonder if they'll still gimp it with 128 bus and 8GB or do a 12GB/192bit 8600XT at least. Being on N3 it will be able to pack a lot of cores in same sized silicon as N33 and could be prety sweet.

Little annoyed AMD has been so quick to start talking RDNA4 and 5 before they even finished releasing 3. Tells me they screwed something up and can't fix it so they want to pivot quickly to something that is fixed. All 7000 series owners should get new RDNA4 GPUs if this is so.

This 6750 GRE makes little sense to me, unless they're sitting on piles of 6700 chips. The 6700XT seems already priced between the 7600 and 7700XT (~350€).

Guess what AMD will do once Nvidia lowers their price... 7700XT will be @ $399 soon.

After getting a 6500XT here is my take on why we are not seeing DGPUs below the 7600. There is no doubt that the 7900 series cards are great for 4K (Yes I have one). I have no doubt that the 7800s and 7700s will be great for 1440P and we know the 7600 is good at 1080P but the next APU from AMD on Desktop will make cards that are under those listed obsolete. By the time that APU launches with RDNA3 cores paired with 7000-8000 DDR5 we will be in that exact situation. you can already assign up to 16GB of RAM buffer to APUs on Ryzen in the BIOS.

I highly doubt that. RX 6500 XT is about 1.5 to 2 times faster than their latest desktop APU graphics (Ryzen 7 5700G). RX 6600 (which is what RX 7500 series would've matched) is about 1.5 to 2 times faster than RX 6500 XT. So we will need APUs 3.5 times faster which is not gonna happen in the next 3 years to say the least.

Have you seen the die size of the 6500XT? Have you looked at reviews of those new handhelds? Those are the current APUs that have RDNA in them and they support 1080P at like 40 Watts. Now if we take the constraint of the form factor of a handheld and put them a Mid tower on a Micro ATX board with 14 phases and a 105 Watt TDP that we could already be there. I swear when I opened my 6500XT I was blown away at how small the GPU was, like even smaller than Memory chips.

Yeah, I also wish for an APU with CPU speed of roughly i5-11400, probably a bit more, and a massive RTX 3050 to 3060 level iGPU with 4-channel DDR5 support.

The fact is we only will get it when RTX 3060 level would be considered the way GTX 960 is considered today.
