$500 will get you an equivalent R7 7700 + A620i or a 12700 + B760i and a cooler but only PCIe4.

So, nice tech but only really worth it for the initial $400 and if you want those PCIe5 lanes...

Admittedly the RAM situation is undesirable with this board, but the 7745HX is arguably more desirable.

80% of the temps problem with Raphael is the IHS itself. Dragon Range solves that problem, even if one doesn't plan to OC.

Normally I'd say that cooler TDP dissipation ratings are complete horseshit, but being direct die does change that a bit. Still, the integrated finstack is pretty anemic.

The 7745HX comes with a Radeon 610M so it's no different than if you bought any other ITX board and any other desktop Ryzen chip except maybe in power usage. Also this board doesn't have much I/O on the back either, to make room for cooling slots. I understand that it's meant to be a slim client / mini PC board, an environment where USB hubs are common, but still.

If it had a Phoenix APU (up to Radeon 780M), and maybe one or two USB3 headers on the board, then it would probably be my next upgrade, especially if the four NVMe slots can all work simultaneously.

The I/O on the back is limited because there's no chipset, not because of the cooling slots. There's only so much you can do with just the CPU I/O and no chipset.

I have that the chip has 28 PCI-E 5.0 lanes which means full x16, 2x X4 NVME but where has the last 4 lanes gone?

With AMD I/O is configurable to USB to sata to whatever, so you got w/lan and or more usb.
There are technically 4 more Gen4 lanes for chipset uplink that might be usable ...

You know, except for the whole solder thing. Delidding AM5 is a LOT riskier then the toothpaste intel chips.

There are M.2 sata controller cards, granted you would need large cutout on rear of motherboard panel to access those.

Yeah those would take up so much space it would make the whole "low profile" thing pointless.

the last 4 lanes are for the chipset and everything connected to said chipset. USB, ece.

It has a USB 3 header and what looks to be a USB 2 header as well.
