D3 sucked on release and got better over time, Blizzard never abandons their games really
Going to Steam is the right move

D4 had a good launch and sold well after all. Their terrible patches after launch is what fcked the game up and made people leave, many will come back if/when game improves

PoE2 is not for me, too grindy like PoE. Mostly for nolifers really. If PoE2 is not a grind, I might try it


You don't need to buy the game again if you have linked your Steam account to Battle.net

Season 2 for D4 is basically just a Quality-of-Life season. Blizzard continue to disappoint with boring, meaningless, content starved seasons just like Diablo 3.

Not sure what you mean by PoE being a grind though. It's a similar grind in Diablo 3, the only difference is Path of Exile constantly had new interesting content added in the form of seasons compared to Diablo 3.

I am no ARPG veteran for sure, the genre is too repetative for me in general but I enjoyed D4 campaign and end-game more than any other Diablo I have tried for sure. Beat Uber Lillith and did Nightmare Dungeons in the 80-90 range, which is good enough for me, then I stopped because of other games. I will come back at S2 probably

D4 was waaay better than D3. Story, gameplay, setting and end-game. Never liked PoE really

I can still replay d2 and enjoy it. And D2R 'works' too, precisely because it kept all of its mechanics, art and music. The scope is smaller compared to d4 and yet there is more to do. Strange how that works.

Just went to log on to see how many hours I've done and it's doing a 3GB update.

Pretty sure I killed the first boss and was prob halfway/three quarts through to getting to the next boss and I that's when I lost interest..

I know they won't provide Steam keys to people that already bought the game on Battle.net. If they did, they would earn some goodwill from the community, but they don't care about that. I bet they are hoping people that bought the Battle.net version will re-buy it on Steam. What's funny is that when you buy it on Steam, you have to link your Battle.net account. Buying it on Steam is just a glorified license to download and play it on Steam even though you still have to use your own Battle.net account anyways. I miss the good old Blizzard of long days past. All they care about now is money and screw any goodwill. What a shame.

We can be different but calling Grim Dawn boring is in the minority. Trust me ARPGs are one of my Favourite genres and I did enjoy the hell out of Diablo 1 and 2 but there have been other ARPGS that I rank over D3.

I don't really understand this. You'd still be required to have an account with Blizzard to run the game. Sure, buy it from Valve, but Steam is still required to link with battlenet (or whatever it is called these days with Blizzard) to verify the game key/activation and then to even let the game run because it requires active internet to Blizzard's servers to run the game.

Just buy the game from Blizzard and cut out the middle man (Steam/Valve).

You simply link Battle.net with Steam and get all your games on Steam - if they are present on Steam - meaning you don't have to launch Battle.net at all.

Wow, just wow. At 4K Grim Dawn is absolutely beautiful. All Good ARPGs have great Music and Graphics. I can see that you like to follow the narrative but it doesn't matter. Once you do some Missions and there are a ton of side missions too and get your Magic going Grim Dawn shows you it's quality. That is not something you can do in a Weekend.

D4 may be your jam but it is not mine. I like to get right into ARPGs with good Pacing and solitary Gameplay. I recently finished KOA in the last year and that was excellent. Does anyone talk about it? Probably not but that does not mean it is not good. Blizzard are also showing too much Greed in the base Game. I can buy a horse but don't have enough experience to earn one? Futhermore I am sure that my experience with D4 mirrors the stats in terms of Gameplay now you are saying that S2 will bring people back acknowledging that the Game has been abandoned by many users and there are plenty of other Games to play. It's not like you can play Warcraft or D3 on Steam so this is all about exposure.

When you talk about POE you are forgetting that you don't have to spend 1 cent on the Game and the RPG element in terms of the tech tree is overwheleming and engrossing like no other ARPG.

At the end of the day Games are the most subjective product and ARPGs went through the Torchlight, Victor Vran and some other phase that gave it proper treatment Grim Dawn is the culmination of that period. Now we have 3D ARPGs like KOA in the form Greedfall and ARPG/platformers that you have never heard of like Raji: An Ancient Epic that are sweet.

People coming back to a game to check out another season, how remarkable. Thank you for pointing out a phenomenon that takes place is every single game that has seasons.

I suggest in the future you actually explain why, in your opinion, every single ARPG is worse than Diablo 4. Unless your criteria for a good game is only high sales, good graphics and sound, which were the only 3 criteria you actually mention.

I doubt most of us don't think D4 is a bad game, but many of us have experience playing other ARPG's than D4, and when you compare it to the other ARPG's it comes out lacking in several metrics that some of us value in ARPG's.

Just as an example, my criteria for a good ARPG is highly weighted toward gameplay, variety of builds, loot and new interesting seasons. D4 does 1 of 4 of those well, gameplay. D4 Characters have extremely limited builds, giving limited variety (making the likelihood of me coming back to the game low). The loot is remarkably uninteresting. Finally, the first season was unremarkable, and Season 2 looks to continue that trend(just like D3 seasons).

I think this is a great consumer win; I am personally fed-up of all the idiotic proprietary launches.
I am curios of the D4 campaign and I am excited to play it in coop.
Regarding it`s endgame, I am not opinionated because I am currently hooked on Grim Dawn, going blind through the endgame with my invented build which fells awesome.
