In order to celebrate its 20th anniversary, GALAX has teased a special edition GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card. Although there are no specific details, due to the size and thickness of the teased cooler, it is most likely that this will be a special edition GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.

As detailed by Videocardz.com, the new graphics card will include a three- to four-slot thick cooler with two fans on the front side and an open area on the front, which could be an opening for a third fan located at the back of the card. GALAX already has an extensive lineup of RTX 4090 graphics cards, a total of fourteen, as well as over 80 different models of RTX 40 series graphics cards. The new GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card should be announced tomorrow, and GALAX has already unveiled a new series of high-end PCIe Gen 5 SSDs as a part of the 20th anniversary celebration. Hopefully, these won't be limited to the Chinese market, and we'll see a worldwide release.

That's across all SKUs and variants of the same card, plus some of their China exclusive SKUs and one-off OC Lab models which are ultra rare and difficult to obtain.

Galax is a good brand but much of their reputation has been earned by their exceptional Hall of Fame and OC Lab overclocking lineup, most of their consumer grade cards like the SG series are actually just bog standard reference designs with a gaudy heatsink.

They've somehow never made many inroads in the US market, but fairly popular as KFA2 in Europe and very big in the China and Brazil markets.

Wait, it's GALAX and not GALAX"Y"? Why didn't anyone tell me!

In all honesty though, I seriously thought it was galaxy all this time.....show how much I pay attention that manufacturer (then again, I guess it's not really a brand I recall seeing in the States).

They removed the Y to trademark the brand name or whatever.

Eh I'll be honest, I'm a massive ROG fan but if they had the 4080 OC Lab available for sale here I would have bought it instead

It's $1800... On Aliexpress, so you can imagine how exotic it is. I'd love to have one.

I'm afraid it's you who's out of the loop friend. I am, of course, just like on the post above it, referring to the exquisite OC Lab GPUs from Galax/KFA2. They cost $1250, $1800 and $2700+ for the 4070 Ti, 4080 and 4090 models respectively. Look them up, pro overclocking gear. Like, completely senseless for the average individual but it's an object of desire if you're a computer nerd such as myself.

These are hand-picked, extreme overclocking versions of their flagship Hall of Fame designs. When I mean hand picked, I mean it, only a small batch of each of these graphics cards has been produced. The RTX 4080 and 4090 come with dual 12VHPWR inputs + a 1200 W power limit, I believe the 4070 Ti has a 750 watt power limit. They're crazy like that.

Point being, I don't see Galax releasing special editions as a negative, in fact, I'm quite interested in them and would have purchased said card over my ROG 4080 had it been available in my country. Not about to import a product of this price from China...

AFAIK GALAX is just a sister brand of Galaxy. At least it was some time ago.

Palit Microsystems of Taiwan own a number of brands including Palit, Gainward, KFA2 and Galaxy(GALAX). GALAX was adopted originally as an alternate to Galaxy because of potential branding issues in some markets.

Funny how I remember everyone bashing Palit and praising Gainward back in the day. Though I didn't know that they own also those other brands.
