Samsung Electronics today announced its new Galaxy Tab A9 series, delivering Samsung Galaxy's awesome tablet experiences at great value. Available in two sizes, the series combines immersive video and audio with hyper-fast connectivity—supporting everyday entertainment and productivity needs in a portable package. The Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9+ exemplify the Galaxy connected ecosystem, offering a continuous experience across multiple devices, as well as innovative ways for users and their loved ones to safely navigate the digital realm.

"We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the latest innovations in tablet technology," said TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung Electronics' Mobile eXperience Business. "With the latest Galaxy Tab A series release, we're making it easier than ever for all to enjoy great entertainment and productive multitasking across the entire Galaxy ecosystem."

Engineered for Pure Viewing Pleasure
The Galaxy Tab A9 and A9+ offer the largest screens of any Galaxy A series tablet yet, with 8.7 and 11-inch displays, respectively, that immerse users in their favorite movies, shows or games.

Galaxy Tab A9+ users can get lost in cinematic experiences, thanks to a 90 Hz refresh rate—for lag free gaming or scrolling—and enjoy immersive sound with Quad speakers, powered by Dolby Atmos. With hyper-fast 5G connectivity, there's no need to worry about interrupted streaming when you're on the go. Galaxy Tab A9 features Dual speakers and LTE connectivity. Both tablets feature sleek, unibody designs with a soft-texture back cover, making them easy to handle.

Awesome Performance
Galaxy Tab A9 and A9+ provide exceptional performance and speed that empower users to accomplish more. With the largest memory and storage available on a Galaxy Tab A series, there is plenty of room to store and save documents, sources of inspiration and more.

Engineered to enhance productivity and the ability to learn, the Galaxy Tab A9+ brings PC-level multitasking to the tablet with Samsung DeX and the multi-active window allows up to three split-screens to maximize the ability to do more at once. Galaxy Tab A series users can now record their screen with Screen Recorder, so it's easy to refer back to information or inspiration later.

Your Galaxy, Your Way
The Galaxy Tab A series enables seamless connectivity across Samsung Galaxy devices, so users can easily move content between mobile, tablet and TV monitors. Quick Share simplifies file sharing without requiring device pairing, so users can send their favorite content between devices.

The new Galaxy Tab A series also ensures that data is safe and secured by Samsung Knox, Samsung's award-winning, multi-layered security platform. The Security & Privacy Dashboard empowers users to easily see and control what happens to their data. With Private Share, content is encrypted before it's shared. The sender can set access permissions, expiration dates and more to have extra peace of mind when sending sensitive information. And with Secure Wi-Fi, users can take their Galaxy Tab A9 or A9+ on the go without worrying about risky shared internet networks. Internet traffic is encrypted and tracking apps are blocked so browsing is private and secure.

Tablets have become an essential source of entertainment and learning for children, and Samsung Kids helps children safely navigate the digital realm. With a simple set up process, parents and caregivers can monitor and control children's digital activities, access settings, create child profiles, set playtime and monitor the content that children are consuming. Plus, Samsung Galaxy's 'Edutainment' provides fun and engaging content on-device.

Availability
The Galaxy Tab A9 series will be available from October 23, starting with select markets. The series comes in three refined color: Graphite, Silver and Navy.

I wonder what processor they are using, Exynos or Snapdragon.

Oh well. Snapdragon sells well compared to Exynos. Avoid Exynos like the plague.

They F*ed up the PR again IMHO. I don't think these critters will support Dex.

And any 4GB RAM device should be banned and treated as e-waste.

Cool. Hopefully people pick that one instead!

Wasn't that only supported on the S series?
I have an S7 FE and it supports DEX and it has USB 3.0

It needs DP output no matter you use wireless or not, S7 FE has a proper Qualcomm. So IMHO not these... And unfortunately not. Samsung is gone crazy filling market with numerous devices for no real purpose. For example the new Tab S9 FE also does not support Dex. So it is a mess.

These are X series devices actually... those are ODM either way... there ain't much from Samsung there.

Pff thats really messed up.

Yeah, I've always avoided Exynos like the plague and I'm currently runnint the A52s 5G which it's Snapdragon... Previous to that Galaxy Note 4, S4.. so on. I was planing to get a newer Galaxy S ultra with Snapdragon but if they are fucking with them that way I will have to consider another brand that uses SD or just suck it up as I like OneUI and I debloat everything that samsung releases via ADB... What a mess.

Oh yeah I've been using gsmarena for over a decade, thanks to that that I've avoided them! specially because phone providers don't always tell you what model they are selling... Yikes indeed.. :/

It performs awfuly compared to Snapdragon yet it's used on High end phones, bad battery life, underperforming in tasks that even worse phones with cheaper SoC's can acomplish, overheating, specs for bt/wifi/5G tend to be worse even if they might be "bigger number = better" kind of thing. Overal there is plenty of reasons to NOT use it and a quick search will show ya.

Here you have a post in Sammbobile (which is the page you use to download oficial firmware for Samsung Mobile devices) talking lightly about it.

For someone who neither knows, nor particularly cares, what's the problem with Exynos?

Same problem as everything else that's not Qualcomm, it's not Qualcomm. Piss poor optimization all around. None of the super hyped RDNA-based Xclipse GPU features came to fruition in any way.

Anything fabbed on Samsung Foundries in the past few years has been utter uncompetitive garbage hardware. It's not a secret how much Samsung held back Ampere. The only reason Exynos looked even remotely acceptable a couple times in those generations is because Qualcomm designs were also hobbled with Samsung Foundries (888, 8 Gen 1). 8+ Gen 1 instantly pulled out a near generational uplift simply by going back to TSMC. Same goes for Google; unless Samsung pulls magic out of its hat or Google goes somewhere else, Tensor will never find a way to get decent efficiency.

Having had zero answer to 8 Gen 2, Samsung now has a mountain to climb for Exynos 2400, and so far it looks like every other Exynos generation ever - all bark and no bite. I don't even know if there's any bark left; Samsung has been trying incredibly hard to ride the AI hype train for 2400, sounds like there's absolutely nothing else worth talking about.

The optimization argument is also just copium nowadays; Dimensity has been showing for years that you don't need to be Qualcomm to be appealing, just offer a good product. Samsung can't even do that.

Thanks to both of you! I've been considering a new, small tablet, so if I decide to get the A9 I guess I'll pick up the Snapdragon version form the US.

The Exynos would likely do me just fine, given its use will be reading books and a tiny bit of surfing, but why get the worse version regardless.

Yeah no problem!, a lot can be done in tablets so its always nice to have something more capable and battery wise that will do wonders!

Benchmark Scores None, but I think they'd be fairly decent.
The battery life in particular is of some importance, so that's reason enough to hunt down a Snapdragon.

The problem is sometimes, buying a SD samsung from the US that the modems can be different and using it in the UK can/could be a problem for 4/5G

Keep in mind, the A9 does not have a snapdragon chip. Only the A9+ does. The A9 gets a mediatek chip in the US.

It frankly amazes me nobody makes a proper ipad mini competitor anymore.

The size delta between small tablets and large phones is too, well, small. Not only that, but given the sad performance of the post-Nexus 7-8" class tablets I've used (outside of the iPad Mini, of course), you're better off with an older used big phone anyway.
