They seem to have refresh issue's, pixels that got stuck which in my case i would like one for would be a bit of a nightmare with a bunch of tabs.

Honestly I find these products really odd.
I love e-paper, I have my old trusted kobo aura one for reading and the original note air for note-taking and I love each for what I use them for.
But I also own an S8+ because some content/usecases just don't mesh well with an e-paper.
I would never consider buying this product, what useful features does it offer the Note C Air?
Even all their marketing images show only note-taking, then buy a Note Air 3 C. They're not even buying it themselves.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, if you want to not have pixels being stuck you can configure the tablet to do a full refresh on change or do it yourself with a gesture.
Just don't expect anything better than 2spf (seconds per frame).
If this is an unacceptable compromise then e-paper is just not sophisticated enough.

That said, I very much doubt there's going to be any notable improvements any time soon.
All development the last years have been focused on colors and higher refreshrate (with pixels being stuck).

I've been considering a BOOX Color E-Reader; mainly for my large collection of books and comics, and also for having colors for the news feeds I read. Yeah, I probably could get a regular tablet instead, but AFAIK, the Ultra C and Ultra C Pro have much better battery life for what will mostly be a reader rather than a multi-function device.

That being said, I'm told I should get an iPad Pro, iPad Air, 10th Gen iPad, or a Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ instead, given all are around the same cost (~600 USD depending on size and memory), and even if I do use them for mostly reading, they all should have some efficiency modes that would give considerable battery life too for what's mostly a reader and occasional note-taker.

Anyone have any opinions? I'm admittedly not much of a tablet user, but I'd like to shift from using my phone for reading and note-taking to a larger tablet.

I think we've been through this several times - eInk doesn't work for general productivity. The only thing it's good for is reading (text and signage).
Even something as simple as typing text will be a nightmare when you get a refresh rate worse than 80s calculator.

Honestly I would not consider this one, get the Note Air 3 C instead.
But if it's your first e-reader you should really try and compare before committing.

The most annoying thing about this launch for me is that they only released the non-pro model about three months ago, and the only functional difference is a new cpu + whatever tweaks they've done to improve refresh by 10%.

Should have just released the one model.
