Thats fine and dandy and all, and I think its good that theres a decent low profile card out there. However, I mean, does this mean the 60 series is now essentially the 50 series?
It's based on the same tiny xx107 chip that all the x50 cards were based on in the pre-RT era. I think this says a lot.

I was playing with the idea for a while (one of my HTPCs is in an ML09B), but didn't go with it because
1. It's a big card for a low profile one, so I have the same fears as you,
2. It's too expensive for a HTPC upgrade,
3. I still can't find it in any store other than importing it through Amazon US,
4. That HTPC has a 35 W 4th gen i7 with 8 GB RAM which would make the upgrade pretty much pointless.
Just curious, what low profile gpu is in your htpc? Or do you just use igpu?

I've got a passively cooled GT 1030 at the moment. I also had an RX 6400 at some point that I used up in another small PC that I built for a friend of mine.

Fun fact that the 1050 Ti in my other HTPC is also passively cooled (albeit, full height). :)

Has anyone tried putting this into Silverstone ML09B?
Looks like no chance it will fit in Silverstone ML09B. :(
I was thinking deshrouding it might allow it to fit (+90 deg PCIe adaptor) but that darn heat pipe sticking out might kill that possibility.

Airflow wise it looks fine even without deshrouding, but the clearance near the front is going to be an absolute bitch and a half. General airflow situation in the ML09 is kinda mid.

Maybe if you gut the USB ports from the case, would make your life easier. Haven't checked if the length physically fits in ML09B even with I/O removed. I personally would go that route but it might be ugly/sharp edges to cut your fingers on.

I had one way back in the day. Some amd card, can't remember the naming conventional back then. Like something something 6450 or idk. but it played starcraft II and that was all I cared about :p Its too bad there's not more low profile cards today but I get why, integrated graphics used to suck real bad.

On paper anyway 175mm is supported. If that heatpipe wasn't there I bet it would fit based on pictures I saw. I'll have to open take a look and measure.
(edit)
Yep 175mm to the I/O. The 4060LP needs 182mm. The I/O takes up 15mm so removing the I/O should free up enough space. It does look like that heatpipe might clear the I/O with the shroud removed but without having more card measurements I can't be certain.

Kind of? The 4060 plays within the power envelope of Kepler and later x50 cards (and would have made a decent 4050 ti for, say, USD180), but the 4060 ti pulls x60-level watts (and could have been an okay-ish 4060 @ USD250).

That's a shame. Removing the front shroud kind of removes the design aesthetic of a HTPC (to be a piece of furniture). :(

I meant removing the GPU shroud and fans. Mabe two Noctua NF-A8's will fit in place like I've seen with larger cards strapping PC fans to their heatsinks.

Ah I see!

I'm happy I went the passive route with a 35 W i7 that chugs along happily with an Arctic-branded chunk of aluminum on top of it. :) That cooler literally doesn't take more space than the CPU itself.

Also, I've got some thin case fans, but I'd remove them if the GPU wasn't passive also.

I'll post pics in my blog (signature below) soon.

Might be cutting it close depending on how thick the shroud is. There's less than a PCIe slot's worth of space in there (<20.3mm) and A8 is a 25mm fan (more if you want to use corner pads).

I haven't decided yet but I'm tempted to try it. A 1650LP isn't exactly going for a nice price in comparison to the 4060LP. At $320-ish it kinda makes more sense to get a sandwich or flat style case instead and be able to use a much wider choice of GPU's in the long run especially some I have on the shelf already. Either that or go with a much cheaper rx 6400 but that still doesn't seem like a deal either.

Some dremel work and we are just about ready to go for it ...

Silverstone ML09B eagerly awaits and my first Nvidia experience since the GTX 1060 3GB and K600.

In addition to the fans I completed two additional mods that fixes the cooling with the 4060LP in the ML09B (3 mods total: 1 fan cutout, 1 gasket, 1 set of holes drilled into case)
Since this thread is picked up in google searches I've included the link here for the additional mods to make it easier to find.
