NVIDIA has reportedly halted production of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 graphics cards, allowing the market to digest existing inventories of the two products, so it could create room in the channel for its upcoming GeForce RTX 40-series SUPER graphics cards. The company is expected to announce these cards around the 2024 International CES (January). The SUPER series is being designed to consolidate NVIDIA in the performance-enthusiast segments, and include three SKUs, namely the RTX 4080 SUPER, the RTX 4070 TI SUPER, and the RTX 4070 SUPER. According to the Board Channels post detailing this development, NVIDIA has stopped mass-production of the desktop RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 GPUs, shipped its last orders for Q4-2023, each add-in card (AIC) partner has digested its inventories of these cards, and is awaiting arrival of subsequent new products.

This naming scheme is a steaming pile of materials that can be congregated in piles and steam when do so... I am not sure if I'm misremembering, but I think the Ti badge meant the GPU powering the card had additional capabilities, rather than just being faster that it's non-Ti equivalent, back in the GeForce 3 days...

Wow! (said no one, ever about these new and soon to be overpriced products)

I wonder what Nvidia's plan is to help move the current over stock or if they think they'll move on their own at their current prices.

Thought it was short for 'titanium', but I could be wrong.

It is for Titanium.

Which is why that one guy at nvidia who says "tie" instead of "T I" is the only person in the industry pronouncing it correctly.

That numbskull forgot about the periodic table, which is where the naming originated.
Some of these elements have letter pairs that are impossible to pronounce aloud, or sound weird/lewd.
Take lead(Pb), arsenic(As), or curium(Cm) for example.

all the more reason to not buy their products. Why do they even want to do this when clearly their AI accelerator cards, B.Vs and collabs with startup companies are raking in money? I seriously doubt anyone is going to buy a 4070 Super Ti. Even if there is, the performance won't be even close to a 4090 or even a 4080Ti coz if it does, no one will be buying those high end cards.

Are you suggesting people shouldn't be buying them cause of the name? Who cares. If it's a good card, it's a good card, it can be called an fps spiting unicorn super ti for all I care.

Pb comes from the Latin word for Lead - Plumbum (also the root word for plumbing, plumbers etc)

Better yet, replace Ti with a new moniker, ATM. Makes more sense with the current pricing.

Probably wanted to release 4080 Super 16GB, and 4080 12GB Super, but since the backlash and name change they will have to go with 4070 Ti Super. Not sure which one is worse, but I think the first option.
We will see what price and perf they will have.
