Palit is preparing to bring back its fanless line of graphics cards, under the KalmX brand, with a fanless custom-design model planned for the upcoming GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB. NVIDIA is preparing to cap the bottom end of its product stack with the "new" GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB, a cut-down variant of the original 8 GB RTX 3050, with a TGP of around 70 W, enabling these to be fanless, and lack any additional power connectors (rely entirely on the PCIe slot power). VideoCardz fished out at least three RTX 3050 6 GB SKUs from Palit. These include the StormX OC (model: NE63050S18JE-1070F), StormX (model: NE63050018JE-1070F), and the KalmX (NE63050018JE-1070H). The three cards began appearing on Russian e-tailers, where they are priced at around 28,720 RUB (USD $320).

I had a visual breakdown for a moment and read the price as $120.

That should have been the real price of this entry level GPU but alas nGreedia needs to fund their CEOs jackets and ovens.
As a one who lives in Russia I assure you it's just a Russian thing with that pricing. Our retailers are still living in the mining boom era. Every GPU is nonsensical to buy brand new here. Eligibility for RMA is kinda pointless when you can buy two past-gen GPUs of similar or even better performance for essentially less money. 29 thousand rubles, for example, buy you one used RX 6800/RTX 3070 or two used RTX 3050s/RX 6600 XTs.

All that doesn't mean RTX 3050 6 GB isn't horribly overpriced. It is. But not $320 level horribly, that's for sure.

All GPUs under 100W should be offered in passive variants.

All GPUs under 100W should be offered in passive variants.
But not exclusively passive. Being fully passive means requiring good airflow and respectable amount of space. Not a thing in SFF/mITX/etc builds. Just one fan is enough to make this thing ridiculously compact.

U$320? Crazy... I wonder if anyone would buy it.
Dude, believe me, Russian GPU market is FUBAR. These are all $320, VAT included.

The cost of things keeps going up due to complexity. The demands of gamers for mo4r gfX require more complexity. Rinse repeat.

Yes but RTX 4060 (next-gen + more than double the complexity) was rated $300 MSRP. We also are to consider an RX 6600 (about 50% more performance at least) at $180 street price. No way in hell should this 3050 3040 be above $130.

Pretty much the same where I live, we don't have the 3050 6GB here yet but that very same RX 7600 is ~330$ with our VAT included.
Theres a reason why I only buy second hand GPUs for many years now..

The problem is that PC gamers don't want to pay what things actually cost and will gleefully bankrupt multiple companies just for muh g4m1ng PC and companies know this as well. I remember when the 6800 ultra released at 499 USD and people crapped their pants but it was vastly more costly to develop and make compared to the old even 9600 pro cards. Just as todays 3050 is vastly more costly and expensive to make than that 6800 ultra was.

That's the problem. You want progress in hardware/graphics/gaming? All of that is going to drive costs up. You want more progress? Open that wallet you just asked for higher prices. The only way to tame the price beast is for gamers to scream at the top of their lungs no more graphics improvements, in fact give us worse graphics, just make them more power effecient and cheaper. But as g4m3rs won't do this and keep demanding more progress they keep voting for higher prices. You like fancy graphics? Congrats you're why GPUs blew up in price. You want better graphics? You just voted for 2k budget GPUs in five years get ready!

Well, so much for advancements in technology. Your logic seems to suggest that a chip such as the old Q6600 should still cost $500 because that's what the tech cost at the time, and anything better should cost more. And if we want lower prices we should simply go backwards in tech. Guess when my PC eventually breaks down I'll just go back to a Pentium 4?
