We are proud to announce that THE400 Mini—a modern day mini recreation of the pioneering home computer that first appeared in 1979, will be launching worldwide on 28th March 2024. Retro Games Ltd., one of the world's leading producers of re-imagined home computers, is proud to reveal that our modern day mini recreation of a pioneering home computer is now available to pre-order.

For those looking to relive the gameplay experiences of the 1970s and 1980s, included with THE400 Mini is our THECXSTICK, an enhanced, updated recreation of the iconic CX40 Atari joystick for that added touch of nostalgia. This new controller comes with an additional seven seamlessly integrated function buttons and USB, making it compatible with a wide range of platforms.

Retro Games Ltd is proud to present a THE400 Mini announcement trailer:

Key features include:
  • A half-sized version of the distinctively styled Atari 400, emulating the whole 8-bit Atari range from the 400 to the 800XL, and the Atari 5200 home console.
  • Also included is a recreation of the classic Atari CX40 joystick, with an additional seven seamlessly integrated function buttons.
  • The ability for players to side-load their own games via a USB stick, with support for cartridge, disk and cassette ROMs.
  • Players can rewind time and save their games.
  • HD TV output via HDMI, with 50/60 Hz compatibility.
  • 5 USB ports which allow for the addition of a modern keyboard, extra joysticks and more.
  • Look and feel of 1979: THE400 Mini has been lovingly crafted using modern technology, from the hard-to-match colous of the original machine to the authentic textures of the plastic casing and membrane keyboard, no compromise was made relative to the iconic 1970s look and feel of the original Atari 400.

What's In The Box?:
  • THE400 Mini home computer
  • THECXSTICK USB joystick
  • HDMI cable
  • USB power lead (power adapter not included)
  • Quick start manual

25 Classic Games, including:
  • Berzerk

  • Capture the Flag
  • Lee
  • Millipede
  • Miner 2049er

Sadly too few games and the resolution/ratio are not optimal on the Mini SNES and PS Classic. Check tutorials on youtube to expand the library.

This Atari 400 mini look nice.

The website doesn't appear to offer any way to buy anything from them. I'm scratching me head.

The only bomb was the PS Classic which used all sorts of regions for their games and had other problems which just sucked. The two Nintendos, SEGA, and even TG-16 options were all solid and a great value if you can find them at their actual MSRP. The game selections are pretty good and most people only really want to play a few games anyways... and you can load more if you care to they have a lot of storage.

They are fun, sold like crazy, reasonable at their actual asking price, and make nice "show off pieces" to put in your entertainment center.

I have the Sega Genesis Mini that comes with 40 games (but no ability to sideload anything else). Wasn't a bad purchase, even if some of the included games (e.g. Virtua Fighter 2) need the 4 button controller, while the standard package only includes the 2 button ones.
And while this one lets you sideload, I'm not sure where you would source the media from.
