This new journey starring the legendary archaeologist comes from the award-winning team at MachineGames—the minds behind Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus—in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and executive produced by Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is coming later this year to Xbox Series X|S and PC and will be available day one on Game Pass. Check out the full announce from the Developer_Direct and get more insights from the team at MachineGames below.

Set between "Raiders of the Lost Ark " and "The Last Crusade," Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is a first-person, single-player adventure that will take you all over the world, uncovering clues and solving an ancient mystery. Become the adventurer in a race against sinister forces. Your journeys will take you from the hallowed halls of the Vatican and the arid deserts of Egypt to the lush and sunken temples of Sukhothai and the frigid peaks of the Himalayas.

"Our game is about putting you in the shoes of an iconic hero," says Design Director Jens Andersson. "Since we are doing this mostly in first-person, you have the chance to truly become Indy. First-person makes you part of this world - allowing you to explore and experience things more intimately. What will you do when you're dropped into this adventure with your wits and your whip? The world of Indiana Jones is a world with mysteries around every corner, where you're racing against the clock and outsmarting your enemies as you hunt down artifacts."

From their approach to crafting unique and believable stories and characters, to their over-the-top and unforgettable set pieces, MachineGames is the perfect studio to bring Indiana Jones to modern gaming.

"It's like two pieces of a puzzle that just fit so well together," says Senior Animator Rebecca Elfstrӧm Hidén. "We have big, sometimes crazy ideas that seem insane on paper, but they meshed really well with the franchise. You've got this amazing adventure that digs into the heart of the character and shines a light on all the things that made people fall in love with him in the first place, and then you've got these big, complex set pieces that just fit really well in there. Our DNA and the pillars of Indiana Jones just came together so naturally."

And the team can't wait for the world to see more of what they've been working on. Everyone at MachineGames has their own reasons for why Indy is so important to them. It's the feeling of taking part in a great adventure, and memories of growing up watching the movies with their families. For some it's even been about passing that love and those moments down to their own kids.

"There are a lot of Indiana Jones fans at MachineGames. Most of us grew up with Indy and fell in love with the movies and the character when we were young. We've just got these ties to the character that go back decades," agrees Game Director Jerk Gustafsson. "But even if you didn't grow up with Indiana Jones, you know Indiana Jones. He's a relatable type of hero and a true adventurer. That's a legacy we want to share and be part of, and we want to build something interesting and genuine."

These are some really huge shoes to fill, and a pretty damn high bar. For folk in my age range, making a game to match the legend of Indiana Jones seems an impossible task. I sense detached disappointment.

I've always been a huge fan of the original trilogy movies (and I essentially disregard the existence of the two Disney-era movies) - so between Raiders and the Last Crusade seems a sweet spot for me. It's looking good, as long as they let in the classic Indy humor (aka don't sterilize the experience to be PG), it'll be an interesting game. Hopefully they'll reconsider the first-person-only crap.

There should be an "eff it" button on a cool-down where you can just opt to shoot someone.

The films were PG (or PG12) in the UK. They were never 15 rated.

I feel like we are going to get a Mass Effect: Andromeda disaster. Only this time it will be called Indiana Jones.

The gameplay looks ok and most likely it would be fun if the story, environment, puzzles, OST are up to the task.
These cutscenes though, look very basic...

Probably a 50/50 this will be any good, Bethesda hasn't been on a positive trend lately so we'll see how much they influenced MachineGames. I'm hopeful but let's be real...

Looks promising.
Somehow, the designer of the video game went with a "young" Indiana Jones and not the old and sad one of the recent movie. Wonder why!

Crossing fingers !
MachineGames made some good stuff with Wolfenstein ...
They could have choose a 3rd view like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, picked the FPS view instead ...
Hope the gameplay will mix Mirror's Edge and Wolfenstein in the Indy's universe
I Hope Please GIF

Frankly positively surprised by this game !
The only cons: The characters animation, lip-sync etc they need to invest more in it (id tech engine) especially when animating the legendary Indiana Jones and the Harrison Ford canon one !

Other than that: Promising, I like it and it's probably a day one purchase for me :)

Hmm... I think small open world sections would work best for this game. Kind of like Metro Exodus or Tomb Raider, but making this an open world experience that you have to semi explore to solve riddles and puzzles, would make this an excellent adventure style game.

My brother thinks the game looks great. He's got some high expectations for parts you see in the clips, especially the fist fighting. He really wants it to be up there with what the Riddick games brought to the table with their fist fighting.

I think it looks bleh. It's not Harrison Ford voice acting, so that threw me off a little. The combat looks kind of like it takes place in water, things look slow because they want you to utilize your whip for take downs or disarming and it doesn't look natural.

As much as I enjoyed the movies (not the last two) growing up and I even enjoyed the Lucasarts adventure games as a kid, I'm not sure this will be an Indiana Jones games I can get behind. I see a lot of people making comments around the new game as being like "Uncharted" or to the new "Tomb Raider" games......those games weren't very good. Uncharted was okay, but nothing I thought warranted a big franchise continuation. The first new Tomb Raider I laughed all the way through the game, it was so bad from the completely unrealistic gameplay to the awful story. Here's hoping this game is better than these two recent game series. I may be able to get past mediocre gameplay if it has a good story. I made it through the first Witcher game because of the story (combat was awful and it didn't improve in the second game). I guess we wait and see.

Not defending Todd, but the word on the street is this the game that was distracting him during Starfield's development.

He's been wanting to make an Indiana Jones game for a long time so this is a passion project of his.

Oh, so we should expect the new creation engine with bland grafix and really high system usage?

You know, this sounds like some classic social media spin-level bullshit right there. I thought Starfield was his next great power move. That's how he stood there for years in those interviews and teasers anyway.

That being said, this trailer looks more inspired than Starfield's ever going to be. One wonders why that game didn't get a touch of this, seeing as its from the same director. Strange, this world of Howard we keep running into.

It's IdTech 7 or maybe 8. Id are Microsoft's engine makers now.
