On March 21, you'll be able to explore the Forbidden West, battle awe-inspiring machines and encounter new tribes. Horizon Forbidden West is the beloved follow up to Guerrilla's critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn, and this Complete Edition for PC also includes the Burning Shores expansion, which continues Aloy's journey and takes players to a treacherous volcanic archipelago after completing the main quest.

Today we are excited to announce that the PC version of Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is now available for pre-purchase with bonus content, including:
  • Blacktide Outfit and Blacktide Bow (available only with pre-purchase)
  • Nora Legacy Outfit and Nora Spear (available only when linking your Steam account to PlayStation Network)
  • 2 Special Outfits (Carja Behemoth Elite and Nora Thunder Elite)
  • 2 Special Weapons (Carja Behemoth Short Bow and Nora Thunder Sling)
  • In-game Resources Pack including ammunition, potions, and travel packs
  • In-game Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike Piece
  • Exclusive Photo Mode pose and face paint

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition on PC features unlocked frame rates, customizable graphics settings and a broad range of performance-enhancing technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation. AMD FSR and Intel XeSS are also supported. For players with high-end hardware and extra headroom, image-enhancing NVIDIA DLAA is also available. The game leverages DirectStorage for quick loading times on PC.

On your journey in the far-future post-apocalyptic world of Horizon, you will discover a variety of highly detailed environments, including lush forests, sunken cities, vast deserts and impressive mountain ranges. With ultra-wide support, you'll be able to take in the vistas in a panoramic view. Gameplay is supported in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide and even 48:9 resolutions with compatibility for triple-monitor setups.

Fully customizable mouse and keyboard controls let you traverse the Forbidden West and fight ferocious machines on your PC the way you want to. The game also features extensive controller support, including Steam Input support for remapping and customization of your peripheral of choice to your preferences. Use a PlayStation DualSense controller for the most immersive experience, with adaptive triggers that let you feel the tension in the string of your bow and haptic feedback that makes you feel the impact when you're engaging in melee combat.

On behalf of everyone at Nixxes Software and Guerrilla, we can't wait for you to jump back into the world of Aloy on PC! Head over to Steam or the Epic Games Store now to pre-purchase or wishlist the game.

Cool. Have to finish the first game before then, but currently it's just a lot of fighting and it's pretty boring.

Yup, played Forbidden West for a few hours and it was pretty repetitive.

probably a solid experience, definitely a looker, just stunning scale.
But...as far as a PC featurette video....they borderline should have just skipped making it because man is it basic/barebones.

im surprised they did not put "keyboard and mouse support" in there as some sort of selling point....

Kinda liked the 1st one but a ass hole move to put a story part of the 1st one in to this. Total BS move.

Part of the problem with PC games today, they are not true PC games as they are based around the controller first.

I tried playing the first one a few times after it was ported to PC... gorgeous for a few hours, then you realize there's no real incentive to explore. I think I was collecting coffee cups or something until I asked myself wtf was I doing.

Mass Effect Andromeda had the same effect on me, all these beautiful environs to explore but nothing really there. It would have been so simple to include a few things or an achievement system (that actually does in-game things) to motivate you.

I imagine this is what most ubisoft games feel like, but I've never played anyone of them.

Horizon: Zero Dawn arrived at GOG.com sans DRM and with standalone installers a few months after it arrived at Epic. We've waited 2 years for H:FW, if you want to actually own your copy instead of pseudo-rent it then you may prefer to wait another few months.

Yeah, it's a pc port announcement, nothing special about it beside it now works on PC with the usual PC upgrades. You can watch the PS5 traillers for a regular game trailler

Don't know what you mean, this is a direct sequel to the first game, of course there's things related to the first game. There's also a small recal at the beginning to get you caught up to speed.

(goes without saying but major spoilers for the first game in this video)

I think I was collecting coffee cups or something until I asked myself wtf was I doing.

Odd thing to nitpick, it's a small collectible side quest like in any open world. At least there's a map available and they're only 12, not 100+ like ubisoft usually does.

I found there's plenty of exploration to be done, one of the collectible thingies - aptly named "apocashitstorm tour" - overlaps a couple of historic landmarks (both real world and from the fictional game future in the 2050's) on top of the ruins in the game landscape.

It took me something like 30 hours to realize that, and a game that is pretty great for 30 hours is probably a good game.

And don't get me wrong, the combat is fine, but once you figure it out and max out the stuff you have it's just easy and boring.

I am annoyed and frustrated by [open world] games that have a great foundation and then a zero effort reward system. The amount of work put into the game VS the amount of work it would have taken to sprinkle in a few uniques and/or a Borderlands2 style achievement system... boggles the mind how they can just 'yeah it's done'. Also you feel bad for the departments that put in work.

It's been about two years since my last attempt at it, but I distinctly remember collecting some crap, brought it back to an NPC who rewarded me with a lootbox full of rocks and tier1 crafting materials... just bad luck right? Every quest or collection I remember doing was rewarded with a lootbox, invariably full of rocks. I got better stuff from the one-time lootboxes you basically get for free the first time you talk to merchants (or some mechanic like that). If i was playing 'Desolation' mode in Fallout4 Horizon mod sure, but that was just silliness.

[edit: Ioved the 'you get nothing and will be happy' mode in FO4horizon, the silliness comment was directed at HZD].
[also edit: I'm probably having selective memory issues regarding lootboxes full of rocks, but if that's my main takeaway apart from the gorgeous visuals... speaks for itself]

I will definitely buy and play the sequel, will wait for a sale though. Probably just watch the recap instead of trying (again) to slog through the first one.

It took me something like 30 hours to realize that, and a game that is pretty great for 30 hours is probably a good game.

Aye, just checked my Steam Profile and have 26 hours played, over three different playthrough attempts. I would play for a few days each time and always end up thinking, how can this be so good and so generic at once?

In Forbidden West there's a lot more combat options to explore unlike in zero dawn where once you get the bow upgraded fights are very easy. The upgrade system is much bigger (to the point upgrading weapons becomes a grind) so there's that. In terms of mechanics the game is greatly improved in almost every way.

Fair warning though,
the story was a bit underwritten going for length instead of cohesion and if you watched the traillers they greatly overpromised with the wars and "dangerous clans" of the forbidden west
