Ave Imperator, Force Commander! We are thrilled to announce that Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is coming to Xbox and PlayStation on 20 February! A deadly new threat courses through the galaxy. Nurgle's champions are spreading disease and plague in the form of a new contagion, The Bloom. This infectious influence corrupts whole planets and their lifeforms into twisted reflections of the Plague God's designs. Lead the Grey Knights to exterminate the forces of Chaos in fast-paced, brutal, turn-based tactical combat. Personalize and equip your elite squad of Daemonhunters to purge the deadly corruption of The Bloom as it spreads in a galaxy-spanning campaign. This will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles on 20 February. The original Windows PC version is already out on Steam and Epic.

Take the helm of the Baleful Edict to command Strike Team Xiphos, a force of humanity's greatest weapon, the Grey Knights, to eliminate The Bloom. Upgrade to the Purifier Edition and the mighty Castellan Garran Crowe will deign to join your ranks following a timeline event during the Campaign. This legendary Grey Knight wields unique skills and equipment including the Black Blade of Antwyr, a powerful relic which incessantly whispers temptations to its wielder.

The critically acclaimed Warhammer 40,000 turn-based tactics game is coming to consoles, landing on PlayStation and Xbox for the first time on February 20, 2024

FORGE YOUR FATE AMIDST LAYERS OF STRATEGY
Lead the fight against The Bloom at every level.

You will command the operations of The Baleful Edict battlecruiser, upgrading its facilities and conducting research while travelling across worlds to purge the spread of disease.

UNLEASH LEGENDS: CRAFT YOUR SQUAD'S DESTINY
Individually craft each member of your squad. Each Grey Knight will belong to a unique class with its own ability tree. As they become battle-hardened, your units will gain access to more abilities and equipment. Specialize your champions to create a range of powerful squad strategies.

Lead the Grey Knights to exterminate the forces of Chaos in fast-paced, brutal, turn-based tactical combat.

PRECISION TARGETING
Eliminate foes with Precision Targeting. This system gives clear control over combat decisions and leaves nothing to chance. Every shot has a determined accuracy and damage rate, so every battle comes down to strategy and tactics.

Up close, you can brutally dismember your enemies to afflict debilitating effects, or perform stunning cinematic executions!

RAPID MUTATIONS
Nurgle's Bloom has a nefarious corrupting influence. The very environment of each world will deteriorate into deadly hazards as the decay takes over.

Enemies will increasingly mutate, receiving pestilent blessings from the Plague God, offering new buffs, attacks and abilities. Contain the spread within each planet of the Galaxy before it is beyond cleansing.

DYNAMIC COMBAT
Combat in Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is fast and high-pressure. If you can close the gap and get your Grey Knights close, they'll decimate enemies with a barrage of melee attacks.

From a distance, your enemies will suffer a hail of bullets, explosions, and powerful psychic attacks. A master tactician will use whichever approach is called for by the situation. Knowledge and understanding of your position within the environment is also crucial. Use destructible objects in your surroundings to crush your enemies with pillars, machinery and much more!

EMBRACE THE WARHAMMER 40,000 UNIVERSE
The enthralling narrative of Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters was penned by critically acclaimed Black Library author, Aaron Dembski-Bowden.

Nurgle's great plan comes alive within captivating cutscenes, bringing you to the centre of a gripping narrative as an Imperial Inquisitor arrives on board The Baleful Edict. As Force Commander, you answer to Grand Master of the Grey Knights, Vardan Kai. This impressive character is voiced by none other than BAFTA award winning actor, Andy Serkis (The Batman, Lord of The Rings, The Planet of the Apes)

I haven't played Warhammer yet, but I love strategy games. How well does the title represent the genre?

Don't have the game, but 40k fan response was in general overall positive and complaint list was about some gameplay stuff, not the lore.
It still is Mostly Positive on Steam, so not a poo-poo game.

It's been compared to modern XCOM games...a lot.., although some players don't enjoy the harder difficulty level and less refined user experience. There's a greater emphasis on melee combat and random encounters.

The Story is actually great. The Gameplay is Xcom on Steroids. The Game is hard but the story is 40K all the way. Inquisitors included and Mage Preists. In Space Marine you are 1 in Daemon Hunters you are 5 to 6 super powerful Spacemarines. On console this should be very popular. It is well done and better than Xcom in some Game play innovations for that genre.
