After the redistributor prices for AMD's new Phenom processors emerged a couple of days ago, DailyTech has managed to get hold of some retail prices (not bulk prices) for AMD's new Phenom processors, so here's a roundup:

I don't think it is bad but i would like to see them at the same price if not lower than Intel.

Looking forward to getting me one...maybe the 9600.

I just can't justify a reason of getting one of these at that price. I expected them to at least be in the same price range as Intel, if not lower...

i believe that for 192euros the 9500 is very cheap but for the whole spider you will need the rv790-+phenom+rd670+ddr mem thats about 550euros

I just can't understand that how can you say it is high or low!

We have no idea about the performance of CPU!
Maybe it is far better than Intel or maybe it sucks!

Then we can say it is expensive or cheap!

The true value of these preprocessors will only be known once they've been over clocked. If 2.4 is AMD pushing these to the limit then there will be a problem. If these can hit 2.6-2.8, then boy are we in for a treat.

agreed...
ill be extremely surprised if it can hit 2.8-3.0 on air, then that would be a treat in itself

yeah, I think they will be too hot on air, but price is still very good

it would be nice if the OC on these could get the same as most of the other 65nm CPU... 3-3.1ghz on a Phenom would be nice.

some of you are acting like the price point for these is off the charts...
may i remind you that when the E6850 came out, it was at $330 at newegg, retail (i think)...so i think the prices for these procs are decent

Very true, but may I remind you that you will be able to get a couple of the new Yorkfield 45nm quads due release in January at lower prices than these that are very likely to overclock better and have higher stock speeds (cheapest one being stocked at 2.5Gig).

Hell i think i will just get Intel.time to start saving money. I don't think that AMD can get 6ghz on there quad core using LN2
Also keep in mind that we don't know if the clock for clock is higher or lower on the AMD than Intel.

imo only 3 models are a dumb move.i would say though that there is a lot of stocked am2 atlons

Again very true, but my bet would still be with Intel for clock for clock speeds, I hope I am wrong truly because it's been 8 months since I have had an AMD chip in me puter and I am itching to get one!

Why else would there be the black athlons? Remember that this is AM2+ and AM3 will be out in 2008.So why would they want to have alot of models?Maybe they are just going to release the 3 and later if things go over good release more.

those prices are great compared to other quads

I can't see these selling too well if the Q6600 outperforms them all as well as being equally if not better priced...(it's $285 for one on newegg at the mo) You could have said in the past the motherboards would be cheaper, but the new 790s don't look that cheap right now...

Really? They appear to be more expensive than the forthcoming Intel Yorkfield 45nm quads due for release in Jan.....see my post above.

Very reasonable. Will be getting one.
