I'm terrified of installing any 24.x.x driver. Let me know when it's safe to take the pillow off my face.
Well, I had to go back to 23.11.1. Just like any other 24.x.x driver, I have no idea what the heck AMD is doing. The 23.11.1 version works normally, but newer ones all caused various issues that this older one simply doesn't have, in my use case anyway. I'm sure this version has issues too, no doubt - just what I use my PC for, they aren't perceivable. Getting frustrated with these drivers, man.

Going from this one back to 23.12.1 on my main rig (DDU'd everything beforehand) gave me extra 10-20FPS in MS flight sim, 10-30FPS in Sons of the forest, and 10-50FPS in Horizon: FW (this is hilarious, as they optimized drivers for that game, and it used to even crash often, now it's stable for hours). Seems that this year's drivers aren't optimized for RDNA 2 at all. Note that I use Radeon software slimmer for removing all but essential components for each install. Example attached.
BTW the latest driver is even worse in performance (on my main rig) than its predecessor 24.2.1. So RDNA 2 users be aware of possibility for such scenario and do your own testing (it's free after all), you might be surprised.
