Acer's 57-inch Predator Z57 Lands in Retail

There are already multiple 21:9 monitors that are 38-40 inches in size. LG even have a 45" model. So it's not unlikely to happen, it's already happened.

None of them are 4K though.

Yeah, this is a serious curve. Anybody got any experience with this type of curvature?

Any better than a 1500R type curve?

Would just like to know for future reference as I've been really happy going 1500R from flat.

I used the odyssey neo G9 for a little over a year and got very used to its curvature. I think large format 32:9 really needs an aggressive curve to feel good in prolonged use. Not sure how the variable curvature here will feel over time.

It's a really immersive experience for a select few games (racing, multiplayer FPS), but there's too many issues with 32:9 to use it as a general purpose gaming display, in my opinion. I went back to 55" 4k 16:9.

I'd love a really large 21:9 screen with 5040x2160 resolution, high refresh rate, and great HDR, but no such display exists yet

Dell's ultrawide is 4K. In other words 5K2K.

A 57'' can't be made of left over panels. Panels are made by cutting ever bigger sheets of glass - that's how and why TVs got bigger and cheaper, minimum size now is usally 42'', bellow that is leftovers for very budget products that are totally not worth it compared to the 42'' counterparts. If you're going for 57'' ultrawide that will be the main cuts of any modern sheet of glass, not the leftovers.

I also think this super ultrawide 32:9 are kind of dumb but someone must be buying them otherwise they wouldn't continue to make them. 38/40 are in a bit of a niche and most people settle for the similar and cheaper 34'' so we're shit out of luck.

It's almost perfect, except for the $2,400 price tag.

They were immediately discounted, as usual with Dell, 1800$ right now on Dell US without applying any promo codes people usually use.

technically this is not your regular 57" TV size. I get what you mean, it just dont make business sense if this cuttings have no where else to go into.

The only other requirement is the resolution, and we already saw from the leaked panel roadmaps that 21:9 ultrawides at 5K2K resolutions will be coming in volume in the late 2024-2025 time frame. Whether they will be mini-LED or OLED is yet to be known.

Dell have a display available now that checks most of the boxes in the UltraSharp U4025QW: 40-inches, 5K2K resolution, 120Hz, 5ms response. It's almost perfect, except for the $2,400 price tag.

U4025QW almost there, it just needs a true mini-led HDR1000+ back light.

Seriously why businesses put 2 x 1k mini-led back light into this 57" monster when they can make 2x4025QW with it!
