MSI, a leading brand in gaming, content creation, and business and productivity laptops, is proud to announce that its gaming handheld, Claw, has achieved a significant boost in gaming performance, with an increase of up to 150% through new BIOS and GPU drivers. Moreover, the updated BIOS and GPU drivers enable the Claw to smoothly play the top 100 popular games on the Steam platform, providing an excellent mobile gaming experience.

The new E1T41IMS.106 BIOS (referred to as 106) and 31.0.101.5445 GPU driver (referred to as 5445) for the MSI Claw have significantly enhanced gaming performance according to internal tests. For instance, the performance of the well-known open-world horror game "7 Days to Die" increased by up to 150%. Other popular games such as "Monster Hunter World" and "Cyberpunk 2077" also saw performance improvements of over 50% with the new BIOS and GPU drivers, providing a smoother gaming experience.

Consumers can now download the latest BIOS from the MSI official website and the newest GPU drivers from the Intel ARC official website. Additionally, starting with BIOS 106, users can update the BIOS directly within the Windows environment without the need for an additional USB flash drive or docking station, significantly increasing convenience. For BIOS update methods, please refer to the update instructions in the BIOS file. And for more information about updates to Claw, users can refer to MSI's official website.

To continuously improve user experience, MSI is actively working with Intel to optimize the performance of the Claw. We believe that with each update to the BIOS, GPU drivers, and the built-in gaming intermediary software, MSI Center M, the Claw will offer a more stable and smoother gaming experience.

Additionally, to ensure that the new BIOS and GPU drivers deliver maximum benefits, MSI officially recommends using the following settings during gaming to achieve the best gaming experience:

That's a nice update targeting specific games mostly. I hope AMD is starting feeling the heat from Intel and stop feeling they have a clear lead over Intel. They could lose the handheld market in the future and even consoles if they drop the ball on graphics for games.

Feel the heat? By all accounts the MSI claw is a sales dud, if intel wants to make a dent they should try actually matching AMD performance or, hold my pearls, be FASTER then AMD.

The 8-core Arc inside the 155H (which the Claw carries) is actually pretty competitive against the Radeon 780M. Its drivers are way hit-or-miss, though. Especially for old titles which are the best scenario for the 780M on handhelds.
Then again, that's putting the newest Intel has against something AMD released a while ago. It won't hold a candle against whatever comes with Strix Point (not to mention Strix Halo).

Da Claw....a dud is as a dud does...

My son bought one, played with it hard for a week, hated it & returned it.... he said it was a p.o.s. compared to his steam deck :)

Yeah, AMD and Valve did a strong start in handheld, and made the competition much stricter. Right now, everyone who wants to join the heldheld market, shoud do twice as good and innovative, or get lost imediately. The trick like with furnace "premium" laptop CPU chips won't do it.

A lot of companies have picked AMD over Intel largely because AMD has an efficiency advantage especially in the lower power range.

What is the closest that we have on a 7840 running SteamOS?

Yup, this is true. However, in order for the 8-core Arc to consistently beat the 780M, it would require 30W+ TDP for the entire CPU/APU, with RAM at LPDDR5-6400/7500 or DDR5-6000.

If anything, these Meteor Lake "APUs" would be perfect for mini-PC/desktop use. Hopefully Minisforum bought a bunch of them to integrate into their line up.

For 15W-20W gaming, Z1 Extreme/7840U all the way. For sub-15W, Steam Deck's Aerith/Sephiroth APU shines.
