Today, Logitech G, a brand of Logitech and leading innovator of gaming technologies and gear, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the legendary G502 gaming mouse. In its first decade, the G502 became beloved by the gaming community for delivering unrivaled performance, innovative technologies, and unparalleled design breakthroughs for maximum comfort and incredible responsiveness, becoming the world's best-selling gaming mouse, with more than 21 million mice sold since its launch.

"The G502 has been my go-to mouse for years, and it's the perfect balance for me when it comes to getting some extra buttons while not overwhelming me. This mouse is extremely comfortable to use for extended periods of time. The G502 has a sleek and cool-looking design. It has always been an incredible go-to for gamers who want a couple of extra, easy-to-reach buttons and a smooth experience that allows them to game without interruption!" said Meg Kaylee, a popular gaming streamer and producer who has been using a G502 since 2019.

From the start, G502's design has prioritized gamers' needs. With each update, Logitech G's team of engineers and designers quantified what factors influence gameplay and brought those insights to life with the original G502 and every model since.

Starting in 2014, Logitech G introduced the first G502, with deep personalization, unparalleled tracking performance and responsiveness, and maximum comfort, followed by the G502 Proteus Spectrum in 2016, providing gamers with up to 16.8 million customizable lighting color options. From there, 2018 witnessed the launch of the G502 HERO mouse, designed with Logitech G's HERO 25K sensor—the highest-performing sensor at the time. In 2019, the G502 was upgraded with LIGHTSPEED wireless technology for incredible responsiveness and reliability and POWERPLAY wireless charging; and in 2022, the G502 was upgraded to G502 X, G502 X LIGHTSPEED, and G502 X PLUS with LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches.

"At Logitech G, we take great pride in what we have accomplished over the last decade," said Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G. "What sets G502 apart—cutting-edge technology and innovative design—has become the gold standard for gaming mice across the board."

In designing G502, the team of designers and engineers had to quantify what factors most influenced gameplay while delivering a mouse that provided an abundance of superior features. The original G502 mouse featured a powerful, highly accurate, precise sensor that could be tuned to a gamer's mousing surface for superior tracking and optimal sensor performance. By leveraging technologies like heat mapping and experimentation with surface geometry, the team created a mouse that delivered deep comfort, featured a new visual design, and performed like an extension of the gamer's hand.

"The G502 design optimizes every part of the hand, tailoring itself to every desired gaming need and over delivering in button placement, which maximizes our gaming experience. Tools like this are true extensions of ourselves and enhance our abilities tenfold," said Jeremy "Squatingdog" Pedron, creator and gamer.

Join the Celebration!
Starting today, if gamers buy a G502 mouse, they will also receive a free mousepad. Additionally, continuing throughout the year, Logitech G will have special activations, giveaways, and celebrations highlighting the G502, which include:
  • Beginning May 2, Logitech G is partnering with KRAFTON's PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS to feature a global duo, a multi-stage tournament with tons of product and cash prizes, including the chance to win limited edition G502 X PLUS mice and G640 mousepads. The tournament will be live-streamed on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' official Twitch channel. To sign up, please visit Logitech G's official Discord channel.
  • Starting on May 2nd, gamers can visit the Logitech G website to participate in a digital search-and-find game that will include Easter eggs of the G502 mouse and memorable gaming launches from the last decade. Winners will be entered to win special edition mouse mats and a custom G502 mouse.

I will celebrate owning five (spare parts) G500S (modded) mice, because it's so comfortable i don't see myself ever using another mouse.

That was a much better design.
Haven't had a chance to test the new-ish X models though, they look better than the other G502's.

I've got several G502s at home, just in case. When I first saw images of the G502 it looked very uncomfortable. Turned out it was all a trick of the light. Still think the original MX518 was a better mouse, though.

I'm still waiting to celebrate an actual replacement for the G300S, for us 10% "outcasts" of society who are left-handed and want an "Actually Ambidextrous (tm)" mouse in 2024 that isn't just another obvious right-handed one where a measly 2x extra thumb buttons are on the wrong side...

I recently retired my "perfectly" functioning G502 Proteus Spectrum. It's only actual fault was the "B" in RGB quit working(literally non issue other than my theme is Blue)I grabbed a G502 Hero on a sale. I can only say I like the cable on the Hero better. But I went G5, G500, G502 and found each to be just a better evolution than the previous. The G500 was the only one I had mechanical issues with the right click went off on it

Can just solder a new switch (I changed my G102 to Kailh). Don't get hooked and start soldering all kinds of monstrosity though.

Never had that issue on any Logitech mouse I've had. Several have had other faults over the years, but never that.
And yes, I know it's a "common" issue.

True. But you shouldn't need to replace the Intel supplied garbage fan either.

Ive never had to replace the fan on an intel heatsink. Never heard of it anywhere else either. Must be a you problem.

I have it happen to two over the years. One a really old G502 Proteus core and my current G900 although the problem seems to come and go. When it happens, I give it a blast of compressed air and the problem goes away for a very very long time but it always comes back.

I got a G900 as a replacement for a G700 that wouldn't store the profiles in the internal memory. It was way too flat and have me horrible wrist pain, so I never used it long enough to see how well it lasted. I guess a couple of Logitech mice I never used long enough, like a wired G502 I bought to use while I was stuck in Sweden during the pandemic, which only got about six months worth of use. Hated the slippery metal scroll wheel on that one though.

I recently manged to win a G502 X PLUS. I didn't expert I would end up using it because I have tried G502 Hero before and didn't like the ergonomics of it. But on the G502 X PLUS they have made it slightly wider, and it is much more comfortable to me. So I finally manged to ditch my R.A.T.8+.

Still using my G604. This is my second one. First one started shedding pieces from the rubber thumb area but no double-click problem thankfully.
Unfortunately it seems like it's discontinued now. I hate battery powered models that become throwaway trash once the battery dies. AA for life...

Sure they don't have 20/40 mil lifecycle as regular switches, but it's easy enough to replace them.

I can grab a G502 Hero on offer for £30 currently. But if i did that, i would want to buy an extra one as backup due to the double click issue. But If i was to do that then I might as well buy a G502 X (wired) for the same cost as 2x 502 hero's

Just in time for me to have switched out my trusty (but, double clicking) G502 Lightspeed I'd had for the past 4 years. Got a G502X Lightspeed to replace it from BBuy using rewards, so it came out to under $50.

Wow! You're the only other person I know that owned a R.A.T. mouse... I thought it was pretty cool, but the software was rubbish. I did like the adjustments that you could make to make it fit the hand perfectly.

Congratz Logitech! I do wish you go back to making high quality mice again. I just bought the G 502 X Plus w/Lightspeed for my MacBook and the material feels like a $20 bootleg mouse. If I had to recommend any mice it would be Razer Basilisk V3 > Logitech G502 X Plus.

Anything more than $50 is criminal. So you got it at the perfect price.

Personally ive stuck with the first proteus. The other mice are too light and adding the weights on the proteus makes my movements feel like their intentional

G703 with a hyperscroll wheel would be the perfect mouse imo.

I dont mind the shape of the g502 line, but it has so many unnecessary buttons. Same goes for the g900 mice, it being an ambi design leaves the shape lacking imo, while still generally a good mouse.

This is my favorite mouse of all time. I have the Proteus Core, which I am still using today for both productivity (Photoshop, Lightroom, RawTherapee) and gaming and also other models like Spectrum, Hero and X, all wired mice. Of all the models, Spectrum is the one I like the least because it felt to me like a trivial upgrade from Core, like Core in black color with RGB lighting installed in it. Hero was the real upgrade from Core due to its sensor and X series is the best of all. I'm really liking the G502X.

Just in case some people are not aware, the X series (G502 X) mice are using opto-mechanical switch, not the regular switches used in Core, Spectrum and Hero. If you had or suffered double-clicking when using the old models and you like the G502 but do not want to change the switch yourself, you probably should give the G502X a chance.

None of my pre-X G502 mice were broken or having issues with double-clicking, particularly the oldest one, the Core, even before I changed the switch. I changed the original switch like D2FC-F-7N(20M) to D2F-01F. It performs better and is made domestically.

I have it happen to two over the years. One a really old G502 Proteus core and my current G900 although the problem seems to come and go. When it happens, I give it a blast of compressed air and the problem goes away for a very very long time but it always comes back.

Probably because of oxidation. Some of my friends did almost the same to their pre-X G502 mice except they used contact cleaner instead of compressed air.

If they celebrate 10 years by replacing the defective Omron(China) switches with ones that last more than 2 years, then it will be a great outcome.

I have loved so many great Logitech mice over the years. The obvious problem is that I have needed SO MANY Logitech mice over the years. It's very obvious and unmistakeable how much longer my non-Logitech mice have lasted. Most of them outliving several Logitechs along the way.

I just composed this post with my 12-year-old Microsoft WM 3500 Bluetrac from 2012 because my second MX Anywhere 2 is off for warranty replacement from shitty Omron(China) switch failure. I daily drove this Microsoft mouse for four years, and it's always been in use somewhere here or at work.

I can grab a G502 Hero on offer for £30 currently. But if i did that, i would want to buy an extra one as backup due to the double click issue. But If i was to do that then I might as well buy a G502 X (wired) for the same cost as 2x 502 hero's
I've been experimenting with Razer, Roccat, Glorious, and Steelseries in the last 5-10 years because no Logitech has ever lasted long enough. I think Roccat are the least shit of those four, but my ideal mouse might simply be a Logitech one where I manually desolder the godawful switches and replace with something decent.

Wow! You're the only other person I know that owned a R.A.T. mouse... I thought it was pretty cool, but the software was rubbish. I did like the adjustments that you could make to make it fit the hand perfectly.
I really wanted a R.A.T.7 and then a friend turned up at a LAN with one and I used it for ten minutes which was long enough to form the opinion that I never wanted to deal with Madcatz drivers ever again.

The hardware felt good quality and the ergonomics felt great - but that's only half the equation with a mouse. Tracking performance and drivers are not checkboxes any company should leave blank.

Exactly the issue man. Loved the hardware tho.
