Sabrent Intros Rocket 2242 Gen 4 NVMe SSD

Sabrent introduced the Rocket 2242 M.2 Gen 4 NVMe SSD. The drive is built in the M.2-2242 form-factor (42 mm long), which should make it suitable for certain kinds of handheld game consoles, such as the Legion Go. The Rocket 2242 comes in just one capacity for now, 1 TB. The drive combines a Phison E27T series DRAMless controller with Kioxia 162-layer 3D TLC NAND flash, and takes advantage of the PCI-Express 4.0 x4 host interface to offer sequential transfer speeds of up to 5000 MB/s. The company put out no other performance or endurance related specs. Sabrent is pricing the Rocket 2242 1 TB at USD $99.99, it is available now, and backed by a 5-year warranty.

it is strange. Sabarent is the 1 brand willing to make high capacity SSDs. They were one of the first to 4tb, and later 8TB TLC drives. And their 3.0 2242 drives do hit 2TB. So why doesnt this one?

As a Legion Go owner I was interested, then I saw only 1TB I'll keep waiting I guess.

Sabrent used to offer 2TB option(along with 512GB) in previous generation of Rocket M.2 2242 drive.

As a Legion Go owner I was interested, then I saw only 1TB I'll keep waiting I guess.

Transcend has MTE410S(PCIe 4x4 interface) with 2TB capacity available for purchase right now.

Is that what Microcenter have been putting in the Go? I've been seeing quite a few dead SSDs from whatever they're using which scares me off. It'd be fine if I could get one from a reputable UK retailer, but there's only a couple of very expensive options here atm. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Edit: Ah there is a Western Digital SN770M 2230 option for a sensible price now. That'll obviously fit with a simple adapter.

Not sure there are couple of lesser known 2242 sized SSDs available for purchase unlike Transcend, WD, corsair. Transcend generally is pretty decent when it comes to storage products(own couple of their external drives and readers and all work reliably). Not sure if there are 2230 to 2242 adapter available , if they are then even Seagate has 2230 sized 2TB drive available for purchase.

Huh strange, I've not seen a Seagate option actually. That WD one has caught my eye now, might just jump on that. I'm terms of an adapter, you only need a spacer so it's only pennies.

In India Seagate 2230 sized ssd is hard to find but I remember seeing 530N in both 1TB and 2TB available for purchase on Amazonn(in US and UK). WD should be pretty reliable as they also have an OEM 2230 drive which seems quite popular among deck users.

Ah there's a 520N available here, I can't see a 530N anywhere though. Hmm, bit pricey vs the WD but it's another option I wasn't aware of so tyvm again!
