SilverStone today introduced the Air Slimmer 140, a slimline 140 mm case fan. The fan comes with a thickness of just 15.5 mm, compared to the 25 mm that's typical of 140 mm fans. This should come in handy if you choose a thicker radiator, or are building an SFF machine. The fan features a copper fluid dynamic bearing, although the company didn't specify endurance numbers. The 9-blade impeller features what SilverStone brands as Shark Force patterns, which improve noise characteristics.

The fan takes in 4-pin PWM input, and supports ultra-low speeds. It turns at speeds ranging between 0 and 1,700 RPM, with a maximum airflow of 82 CFM, at 2 mm H₂O static pressure, and 33 dBA maximum noise. It includes cables for daisy-chaining. There are two key variants of the fan, the base variant comes with a black impeller and lacks any lighting, and then there's the Air Slimmer 140 ARGB, which has a white impeller and 9 LEDs studded in the hub. It takes in 3-pin ARGB input for the lighting. The all-black version is priced at $19.99, and the ARGB version at $24.99.

"should come in handy if you choose a thicker radiator" - yes, you'll definitely want to pair these with a thicker-than-usual rad. Marketing departments already run by an AI?

Good that is thin, but too many blades and too high noise. 9 blades and 33 dBA is ridiculous.
My Arctics are with 5 blades and only 10 dB.

The seemingly higher noise is the maximum you'd expect from it when running at full speed. These fans have PWM so you can easily adjust their speeds in motherboard BIOS/UEFI or software to suitable level for your uses. Having a higher speed headroom is useful in fans because you can always slow them down if needed. But if a fan is too slow for certain cooling task, there is no way to increase their performance to adapt but to replace it.

Thinner means less static pressure and more noise for same airflow. If you have a thick radiator you'll want high static pressure fans >> 3 inH2O.
