One way or the other it will blow. Everyday a 4090 melts many 16-pin cables around the world. I wonder if they will fix that in the 5090.

Yeah, Gigabyte may only have had one series of PSUs with issues, but the way they (didn't) handle warranties, lied about the problems, and blamed customers/reviewers for the issues was inexcusable. They've basically got a high-profile blacklist of their PSUs that hasn't really had an official statement apologising for their mess or fixing things for customers, to the best of my understanding.

Until that black mark on their record is cleared, Gigabyte PSUs are to be avoided. I'm too lazy to look up exactly which models are the bad ones and I don't care for the attitude Gigabyte's PSU division has towards customers. They NEED to address that very publicly, maybe reach out to mainstream channels like LTT and GN to clean up their reputation a bit before moving on to new models and marketing/press releases for new products IMO - Just like EK are currently in super hot water and should be avoided by everyone until they solve some really serious issues in how the company is run, solve the internal disputes between EK HQ in Slovenia and EK USA, and get the US division financially liquid in an ethical way that doesn't screw over its employees and suppliers.

I'm a simple man. Used to be I just bought Seasonic PSUs. Nowadays, thanks to jonnyguru, I look to mid-range-and-up PSUs from Corsair. And absolutely nothing else from Corsair, lol.

Point being that PSUs are like offensive lineman--you only notice them when they do something bad. If a PSU brand doesn't have a reputation for reliability and support, it has absolutely nothing, no how many EPIC ELITE gamer buzzwords you attach to it. You might say that PSUs are the component for which brand loyalty, and certainly brand disloyalty, make the most sense. Gigabyte really screwed the pooch. Not all of their products are crap; in fact I'd choose Gigabyte over Corsair without a second thought, most of the time, but their PSUs are forever relegated to "backup I picked up by accident in a cheap bundle" status. At best.

How? There are two ways - 5090 to be a 150-watt card, it won't, or to go back to three legacy PCIe 8-pin power connectors, they won't.
So, I guess nothing will be fixed.
